Why was the groundbreaking date of the Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway Project postponed to August 2025?

Explaining the reason for delaying the project's commencement date, the Thang Long Project Management Board said that the Ministry of Construction has approved the results of the project investor selection. However, the project needs to conduct a survey to establish technical design and construction drawings. At the same time, the project's consulting, supervision and construction contractors must be selected. On the other hand, the site clearance work for the project is currently being carried out by Dong Nai province.

Previously, in mid-May 2025, the Ministry of Construction issued a decision approving the results of selecting investors for the Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway Project (phase 1) under the public-private partnership (PPP) method. Accordingly, the project investor is the Truong Hai - Son Hai Transport Infrastructure Development and Construction Joint Stock Company (Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company - Son Hai Group Company Limited).

According to this decision, the total investment capital of the project according to the results of investor selection is more than 8.4 trillion VND, of which, the investor's capital is more than 7.1 trillion VND; the state capital participating in the project to pay for compensation, site clearance, support, and resettlement is about 1.3 trillion VND.

The construction period for the project is 24 months from the date of commencement of construction. The operation period is 16 years, 11 months and 21 days from the date of commencement of road toll collection.

Dau Giay - Tan Phu Expressway is over 60km long, starting at Km0+000, the intersection area with National Highway 1, connecting with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, in Dau Giay town, Thong Nhat district; ending at Km60+243.83 (end of the intersection area with National Highway 20), connecting with Tan Phu - Bao Loc Expressway Project, in Phu Son commune, Tan Phu district.

In phase 1, the project is invested and built according to the standards of a class 100 highway, with a scale of 4 lanes and a roadbed width of 17m. The weak ground sections, bridges and emergency stops will be constructed to a complete scale, with a roadbed width of nearly 25m.
