[Video] Ho Chi Minh City: Dengue fever increases sharply, many cases are critical

According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, from the beginning of 2025 to the end of week 26, the total number of dengue fever cases accumulated in the city was 10,262. In week 26 alone (from June 23 to 29), the city recorded 645 cases of dengue fever, an increase of 60.4% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks.

Areas with high numbers of dengue fever cases are in old districts such as Nha Be, Can Gio and Cu Chi.

According to doctors, signs that a patient is about to fall into dengue shock are cold skin, hands and feet, rapid pulse, low blood pressure, fatigue, and restlessness. Currently in the rainy season, Aedes mosquitoes are multiplying, dengue fever attacks children as well as adults, so everyone needs to pay attention to implementing good disease prevention measures such as killing mosquitoes, larvae, cleaning water containers, sleeping under mosquito nets, wearing long pants, and sleeveless shirts to avoid mosquito bites.

When seeing a child with a high fever for more than 2 days with signs such as restlessness, tossing and turning or lethargy, drowsiness, delirium, nosebleeds, bleeding gums... you need to quickly take them to the nearest medical facility for treatment.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health recommends that the entire political system and all classes of people simultaneously take action to handle risk points, carry out weekly mosquito larvae eradication campaigns, strengthen community surveillance, and communicate behavior change in a broad and substantial manner.
