The establishment of a commune-level trade union is a necessary step.

The conference was held in accordance with Decision No. 3788/QD-TLĐ dated June 30, 2025 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the appointment of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, key positions and Inspection Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor (new) for the 2023-2028 term.

Comrade Huynh Thi Tuyet Vui, President of Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation, spoke at the conference.

At the conference, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghia, Standing Committee Member, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor, briefly presented the Project on establishing Trade Union organizations at the commune and ward levels. Accordingly, the Project proposed three implementation options with specific analysis of advantages and difficulties, along with the expected number of units to be established, staffing, operating conditions and funding.

After discussion, the Executive Committee unanimously chose to implement option 3. According to this option, communes and wards with 1,000 or more union members will establish a commune-level trade union organization; the trade union chairman will be the Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune or ward. Communes with less than 1,000 union members will have a part-time trade union officer. Communes and wards without a trade union organization or without union members will not establish a trade union organization.

Farewell to comrades who have ceased to be members of the Executive Committee and Inspection Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor.

The plan is assessed to be both suitable for the practical situation and to ensure compliance with the regulations in Official Dispatch No. 4251/TLĐ-ToC of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on instructions for implementing Regulation No. 301-QD/TW of the Secretariat.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, comrade Huynh Thi Tuyet Vui, President of Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor, emphasized: The establishment of a commune-level Trade Union organization is a necessary step to strengthen the leadership and direct direction of the Provincial Federation of Labor over grassroots Trade Union activities, especially in the context after the merger of Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.

He suggested that localities soon coordinate with the Provincial Federation of Labor to review, arrange personnel, operating conditions and improve the organization so that commune and ward trade unions can operate effectively, contributing to building a strong trade union organization from the grassroots, taking more practical care of the lives and interests of union members and workers.
