Hanoi 21 year old girl bought cheap secondhand skin care products, ended up with dermatitis and herpes labialis.
On March 11, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Vietnam Dermatology Association, said that the patient came to the clinic with red, irritated skin, a burning sensation in the area where cosmetics were applied, and painful blisters on his lips.
The girl said she recently "hunted" a set of famous brand skin care products in a secondhand liquidation group, the cost was 1/5 of the normal price. The seller committed that the product was very new, only used a few times but did not suit her so she sold it.
A day after using the product, she began to experience redness and stinging sensations. The seller explained that the products were working and that she would need to use them for a few more days for the symptoms to go away. However, after about three days, the patient noticed that her skin was becoming increasingly red and irritated, and painful blisters appeared on her lips.
Doctor Thanh diagnosed the girl with irritant dermatitis and herpes labialis due to using products of unknown origin. The doctor provided topical skin care, light therapy, and antiviral medication.

Doctors say that sharing cosmetic products such as lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, and makeup sponges poses a high risk of spreading viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
In fact, these makeup tools are places that contain many chemicals and viruses that cause infection. In particular, the lips are a semi-mucosal area that is very vulnerable to the risk of herpes virus and bacteria infection.
In addition, you cannot check the origin of the product, so there is a risk of encountering counterfeit, poor quality goods. Using fake cosmetics can seriously affect the health of the skin, because no one actually knows the ingredients and content of the cosmetics. Not to mention, the exact amount of product left in the bottle cannot be accurately measured, according to Dr. Thanh.
Doctors recommend that women should not share cosmetics, makeup tools, or liquidated products of unknown origin.
