Pasteur Institute Nha Trang pays tribute to Professor - Dr. Yoshida Lay Myint (Nagasaki University, Japan)

On the afternoon of May 21, Nha Trang Pasteur Institute held a ceremony to honor Professor - Dr. Yoshida Lay Myint - Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University, Japan, to recognize and express gratitude for his contributions in 20 years of cooperation with Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee attended the ceremony.

Professor Yoshida Lay Myint is teaching at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University. He is an important bridge in medical cooperation programs between Japan and Vietnam. Since 2006, he has carried out many practical projects in Khanh Hoa such as: Research on acute respiratory infections in children, evaluation of the effectiveness of pneumococcal vaccination schedules and projects on dengue fever... During the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Professor Yoshida Lay Myint accompanied the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang to quickly deploy clinical and serological studies and evaluate the effectiveness of vaccines, contributing to supporting the work of epidemic prevention and control in the locality. He also coordinated many community projects in the provinces with research on diphtheria, hepatitis B, staphylococcus, drug-resistant HIV and pneumococcus... These research results have been published in more than 100 scientific articles, reflecting Professor Yoshida Lay Myint's important contribution to the development of medical science in Vietnam and many other countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan acknowledged the valuable contributions and dedication of Professor - Dr. Yoshida Lay Myint to the health sector of Khanh Hoa in particular and Vietnam in general. The Professor has supported and accompanied scientists of the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute to implement research, training and technology transfer programs in the field of preventive medicine and disease control; contributing to better and better health care for the people. The Professor is a prestigious scientist, leaving good feelings and impressions about the image of a physician in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan hopes that Professor Yoshida Lay Myint will continue to support the cooperation between Nagasaki University and the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute in scientific research; thereby contributing to strengthening the good friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
