On October 13, the photo exhibition “Vietnam - Member of the United Nations Human Rights Council: Respect and Understanding. Dialogue and Cooperation. All human rights - For all people” took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang chaired the opening of the exhibition.
According to a VNA correspondent at the United Nations, the event took place in the context of Vietnam being a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, and simultaneously implementing election campaign activities for the 2026-2028 term, thereby demonstrating Vietnam's sense of responsibility, cooperation and strong, long-term commitment to promoting and protecting human rights globally.
The exhibition offers international friends a comprehensive perspective of a modern, humane, integrated and dynamic Vietnam, while honoring the cultural, historical and human values of Vietnam in the process of sustainable, inclusive and humane development.
The exhibition displays more than 50 artistic photos, most of which are works by VNA reporters, introducing the natural beauty, culture and people of Vietnam, from majestic Ha Long Bay, terraced fields in the Northwest, ancient Hoi An Ancient Town, to the vibrant modern life of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Each photo is a vivid story about the harmony between tradition and modernity, reflecting the spirit of humanity, tolerance and respect for differences - core values expressed through the exhibition's message: "Respect and Understanding. Dialogue and Cooperation. All human rights - For everyone".
In particular, many photographic works focus on Vietnam's outstanding achievements in ensuring human rights, from gender equality, children's rights, education, healthcare, ethnic minority development, to climate change response and environmental protection - vivid evidence of Vietnam's continuous efforts in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Attending the ceremony were representatives of United Nations agencies, permanent delegations, international organizations, international friends and the Vietnamese community in New York.
Therefore, the exhibition also creates a forum for exchange and information about Vietnam, introducing the country, people and culture of Vietnam; introducing Vietnam's priorities, initiatives and contributions to the United Nations in the coming time, in the context of Vietnam aiming to successfully organize the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime in Hanoi at the end of October 2025 and is re-nominating as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.
Besides the goal of promoting the image of the country, people and humane policies of Vietnam, the Exhibition in New York is also a key activity in the campaign to support Vietnam's re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.
Through the exhibition, Vietnam wishes to convey the message of an active and responsible member state that always promotes dialogue and cooperation in ensuring human rights, while sharing good practices and experiences in sustainable and inclusive development, in accordance with the spirit of the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; committing to continue to actively contribute to the common efforts of the international community, promoting human rights based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing to building a peaceful, fair, humane and prosperous world for all.
The photo exhibition at the United Nations headquarters is part of a series of cultural events on the occasion of Vietnam completing its term as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term and re-election for the 2026-2028 term, organized by relevant agencies of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad./.
