Vietnam is currently one of the countries with the highest rate of people with musculoskeletal diseases in the world . Notably, in recent years, the trend of people with musculoskeletal diseases is getting younger.

On June 28 and 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Rheumatology Association organized the 22nd Annual Scientific Conference in 2024 to update many new methods in the diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint diseases. The conference was attended by more than 400 delegates, including leading experts, professors, doctors, medical staff in the field of rheumatology and specialties related to rheumatology from all over the country.

The conference took place in 4 sessions with 22 thematic reports of high practical application such as: Common problems in musculoskeletal system, management of autoimmune joint diseases, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, gout, autoinflammatory syndrome and other diseases. In addition, delegates also discussed enthusiastically the methods of treating hypertension in elderly musculoskeletal patients, the role of diagnostic imaging in spinal arthritis, dose extension in the treatment of spinal arthritis...

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, President of the Vietnam Rheumatology Association, said that the topics reported at this conference all contain useful information and are highly applicable in clinical treatment. The conference contributes to improving the quality of people's health care, minimizing the risks caused by musculoskeletal diseases in the community, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnamese medicine.

According to experts, Vietnam is currently one of the countries with the highest rate of people with musculoskeletal diseases in the world. Notably, in recent years, the trend of people with musculoskeletal diseases is getting younger. At the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Khoa, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Rheumatology Association, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Cho Ray Hospital, said that although musculoskeletal diseases are a common disease, many patients are not aware of the role of visiting specialists for proper diagnosis and treatment.

"Sometimes, applying unscientific folk methods can cause harmful complications. Not to mention the abuse of painkillers in the treatment of joint diseases is very common among people, leaving serious consequences," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Khoa informed.
