Another factor that makes Vietnam an attractive destination for Australian tourists is the exchange rate between the Australian dollar (AUD) and the Vietnamese dong, according to Travel Money Oz. A spokesperson for Travel Money Oz said that Vietnam has always offered Australian tourists incredible value. With the AUD steadily increasing against the Vietnamese dong in recent months, tourists can enjoy even more benefits. This directly impacts on tourists' budgets, with an average meal or taxi ride costing around AUD5, and a 1-litre bottle of purified water costing around 80 cents.
Travel company Klook also reported a 250% spike in hotel bookings in Vietnam from March to June 2025 compared to the same period last year. The most searched destinations in Vietnam include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Ha Long Bay and Hoi An.
