Vietnam - Laos strengthen cooperation to improve education quality

According to VNA correspondent in Laos, on the morning of October 9, in the capital Vientiane, the opening ceremony of the training course on "Self-assessment of primary school quality" for managers and teachers of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports took place.

The event was organized in both in-person and online formats, with the participation of managers, officials and employees in the education sector of Vietnam and Laos.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, said that the general objective of the plan to enhance the capacity of the education quality management system for the period 2021-2030 includes two key contents: (1) Improving the capacity of officials, experts and teachers of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports on self-assessment of primary education quality; (2) Supporting the team of officials and teachers to meet the requirements of the Lao national primary education program.

According to Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, the specific goal of the training course is to help about 150 Lao officials and teachers to be able to conduct self-assessment and improve quality according to Laos' primary education standards, and at the same time effectively apply new methods, tools and criteria in teaching and managing primary schools in accordance with the education program of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports.

Within the framework of the plan, training activities, professional exchanges and on-site practice will be organized simultaneously in Vietnam and Laos, focusing on three main contents: (1) sharing Vietnam's practical experience in building and operating an education quality assurance system; (2) Developing a core team in Laos that can proactively conduct self-assessment and improve quality at the school level; (3) Strengthening connections and sharing of learning resources, tools and digital systems in education quality management.

The training course is a clear demonstration of the spirit of “cooperation - sharing - mutual development” between the two education sectors of Vietnam and Laos. The great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have always been invaluable assets that have been diligently cultivated by generations of leaders, in which educational cooperation has always been a highlight.
