Receiving the Secretary General of the Cambodian Senate, Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and prioritizes strengthening relations with Cambodia for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

On the afternoon of April 4, at the National Assembly House, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man received Secretary General of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Oum Sarith and the working delegation visiting and working in Vietnam.

Welcoming Secretary General Oum Sarith and the delegation of the Cambodian Senate Secretariat, Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the working results between the delegation and the Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly believes that the visit of Secretary General Oum Sarith will contribute to further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the National Assembly Secretariat, the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Secretariat of the Senate of Cambodia, creating momentum for the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two agencies signed in November 2022 in Phnom Penh during the official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Congratulating the great and comprehensive achievements of the Cambodian people, Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man believes that Cambodia will successfully organize the election of the 7th National Assembly next July, continuing to maintain peace and prosperous development for the country and people of Cambodia.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that the Vietnamese National Assembly highly appreciated Cambodia's role as ASEAN Chair and AIPA Chair in 2022 for its active contribution to the process of building a peaceful, stable and prosperous ASEAN Community; and wished Cambodia a successful organization of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in May, contributing to enhancing Cambodia's role and position in the region and the world.

The National Assembly Standing Vice Chairman affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and prioritizes strengthening relations with Cambodia for the benefit of the people of both countries; and is pleased to see that the cooperative relationship between the two countries has always maintained a stable development momentum.

The two sides regularly exchange delegations of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government as well as people-to-people exchanges. Bilateral cooperation mechanisms continue to be maintained, with economic cooperation achieving many positive results, with two-way trade turnover reaching over 10 billion USD.

The Vietnamese National Assembly will make every effort, together with the Cambodian Senate, to continue to strengthen cooperation, exchange information, and share professional and technical experiences, especially in the fields of legislation, supervision, and decision-making on important issues; and hope that the legislative bodies of the two countries will continue to unite and support each other in international forums.

Informing that the Vietnamese National Assembly is preparing to take on the role of host country for the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, the Standing Vice President of the National Assembly hopes that the Cambodian Senate will pay attention and send a delegation of young parliamentarians of the Cambodian Senate to participate in this event.

Thanking the Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to receive him, Secretary General Oum Sarith highly appreciated the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries as well as between the legislative bodies of the two countries; at the same time, he said that the Cambodian leaders thanked Vietnam for actively participating in events organized by Cambodia such as the ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); and thanked the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for always giving Cambodia support and assistance.

Emphasizing that the Cambodian people will never forget and be grateful to the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who helped Cambodia overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime, Secretary General of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Oum Sarith hopes that the National Assembly, Government and people of the two countries will continue to strengthen solidarity and mutual support in the coming time./.
