The Truth National Political Publishing House has just released to readers the book Vietnam - A perspective from Japan by Professor Dr. Furuta Motoo.

The book is the result of more than half a century of research and attachment to Vietnam by Professor Furuta, and was published in Japan in 2017.

The book sketches a panoramic picture of Vietnam through the unique perspective and approach of a person who considers Vietnam his "first love" and has been loyal for more than half a century.

The book not only presents historical, institutional, and socio -economic issues, but also vividly depicts daily life in Vietnam through an academic lens combined with the author's personal experiences.

Readers will see from the daily activities of the people, cultural beliefs, social behavior to macro issues such as the history of building and defending the country, the reform - innovation, international integration and the geopolitical role of Vietnam in the region.

According to the assessment of the National Political Publishing House, the special point that creates the appeal of the work is the "bottom-up" approach that the author applies.

Instead of focusing on major political events, he exploits the details of everyday life to explain the unique social characteristics of Vietnam.

This is also what Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Minh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, enjoys about the book.

"Interesting, strange, no one has ever written history like this. I know all the stories, but the author can bring up issues of high generality," said Mr. Giang.

Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung - former director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences, Hanoi National University - especially praised the publisher for bravely publishing the book "in the true spirit of academic and cultural dialogue".

Before the book Vietnam - A Perspective from Japan, Professor Furuta Motoo published three books in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh - National Liberation and Renovation (1997); Vietnam in World History (1998); The 1945 Famine in Vietnam - Historical Evidence (published three times in three publishing houses: Knowledge, Social Science, and National Politics and Truth).
