According to VNA correspondent in New Delhi, attending the opening ceremony of the fair and the inauguration of the Vietnamese pavilion were Ms. Shubhra Agarwal, Director General, Indian Ministry of Textiles; Ms. Chandrima Chatterjee, Secretary General of the Indian Textile Federation; leaders of Indian industry associations, representatives of the diplomatic corps, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in India; the fair organizing committee and many representatives of businesses from various countries attending the fair.

The South Asia Textile Fair has been successfully held 11 times in South Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India since 2015. The fair has established itself as the largest international textile sourcing exhibition in South Asia, connecting over 50,000 buyers from over 35 countries with over 1,800 suppliers.

At this year's fair, 100 exhibitors from India, Korea, China, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Vietnam introduced products from textile raw materials such as fibers, yarns, garment fabrics, accessories to ready-made garments and fashion products... The organizers are expected to conduct trade connection meetings, meetings between sellers and buyers and a series of seminars providing information on technological innovation, business opportunities and new trends in the textile industry in India and international markets.

The Vietnam Trade Office in India arranged a booth at the fair to promote Vietnamese textiles and garments and supported a number of businesses to display products and business documents.

Viindi Global, a startup by young Vietnamese entrepreneurs, named after the abbreviation of Vietnam - India, has displayed fashion products made in Vietnam and India. Vietnamese businesses hope to find larger orders not only in the Indian market but also in the European and American markets.

Many Indian enterprises are interested in the business methods and development models of Vietnamese enterprises, and wish to cooperate with Vietnam to expand business activities in India, South Asia and around the world.

When visiting the Vietnamese booth, Ms. Shubhra, Director General of the Indian Ministry of Textiles, hoped that Vietnamese enterprises would boldly expand their business models in India to take advantage of India's population and labor force, and join India in exporting textiles and garments globally.

According to Vietnam Customs data, Vietnam's textile and garment exports to India in the first 10 months of 2023 reached nearly 150 million USD, up 10% over the same period last year.
