Vietnam - France strengthen cooperation in preserving historical heritage, preserving war memories

According to the Agreement, the two sides will coordinate in many areas: Collecting, preserving, and displaying artifacts; exchanging professional expertise; conducting scientific research, and organizing exhibitions on the Dien Bien Phu battle in both countries.

The Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum will provide documents, images, digital image files about the Dien Bien Phu battle, as well as provide additional images related to the economy , culture, and landscapes of Dien Bien province for the Caen War Memory Museum to use in its exhibition and introduction activities to the French and international public. The Caen War Memory Museum will support the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum in professional and scientific work, in order to innovate the permanent exhibition line and organize short-term exhibitions in line with modern museum trends.

In addition, the two sides will coordinate museum operations, co-organize scientific and cultural research projects, and share experiences in exhibitions and preservation of artifacts. Special attention will be paid to metal artifacts such as weapons, ammunition, and military equipment dating from 1945-1954.

The agreement also mentioned sending working delegations to study and learn from experience, organize a thematic exhibition on the Dien Bien Phu campaign at the Caen Museum (France), and welcome working delegations from France to Dien Bien to survey, exchange and cooperate professionally.

According to Cong Thuong Newspaper, speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang affirmed: "The cooperation between the two museums not only contributes to enriching the archives of valuable documents and artifacts, but also serves as a bridge for cultural exchange, promoting understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese and French people." The connection with the Caen War Memorial Museum also opens up a golden opportunity for Dien Bien province to promote its image, attract international tourists who love history and culture, thereby sustainably developing the tourism industry associated with heritage.
