Viet Thuan: Focus on improving people's spiritual life

Building on the rich cultural traditions of its rural area, Viet Thuan commune (Vu Thu district) has focused on caring for the cultural and spiritual lives of its people through meaningful programs and activities. The vibrant emulation movement taking place throughout the commune has become a highlight in the local socio -economic development process.

The Viet Thuan commune's rowing club is very active and contributes to preserving traditional culture.

As a tradition, every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM, members of the Viet Thuan commune's traditional opera club gather at the commune's People's Committee hall for their activities. The sounds of traditional opera, accompanied by the gongs and drums, resonate as an indispensable "spiritual nourishment" for the local people during village festivals. Established in 2018, the club currently has 21 active members who participate enthusiastically in competitions and cultural exchanges organized by the commune and district.

Ms. Luu Thi Bich Nhuong, the head of the traditional opera club in Viet Thuan commune, is 71 years old, but her voice remains sweet and warm, and she is still passionate about traditional art, passing on her skills to the younger generation.

Ms. Nhuong shared: "The members of the Cheo Club are all honest, hardworking people who share a love and passion for Cheo (traditional Vietnamese opera) and a desire to use Cheo singing to praise their homeland, country, and working people. The club always receives attention from the Party Committee and the local government, and the positive response of the local people, attracting many age groups to participate. It is a place for healthy activities and recreation, both to continue traditional culture and to improve our health. This summer, our Cheo Club is teaching Cheo singing to children in the commune. I teach the children using simple, easy-to-remember rhythms and beats, and after a few sessions, even children who knew nothing about Cheo can sing it. I always hope that the Cheo Club will develop, with a next generation continuing and preserving the traditional Cheo art of our homeland, Thai Binh ."

To date, the entire commune has over 20 vibrant arts and sports clubs operating across 9 villages, including 3 clubs established by various organizations. 100% of the villages have football and folk dance teams that regularly and effectively attract participants of all ages. Each resident chooses a suitable sport to practice, with football, folk dance, and volleyball being the most popular. To encourage, motivate, and enhance the cultural and spiritual life of the people, the commune regularly organizes friendly men's football tournaments between village teams every year, receiving enthusiastic participation from the residents.

Mr. Bui Van Noi from Viet Tien village shared: "As someone passionate about sports, especially football, every day in the late afternoon after work, I regularly practice with my friends at the village's football field. The villagers actively participate in many tournaments organized by the commune. Participating in sports activities has improved my health and boosted my spirits; these activities also help strengthen solidarity among the people."

The stadium in Viet Thuan commune was equipped with goalposts, lighting system, and nets thanks to social contributions.

In residential areas, culture and sports have become practical activities in people's daily lives. Community stadiums and cultural centers are always bustling with clubs and teams participating in sports activities. Among them, young men and children practice and play football and volleyball, women participate in traditional Vietnamese opera and folk dances, and the elderly choose to maintain their health through therapeutic exercises.

Mr. Bui Cong Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Thuan commune, said: Implementing the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement and the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign, the commune's Party Committee and government have always paid attention to directing and creating momentum to promote the emulation movement's development. All 9/9 villages in the commune have been recognized as achieving the standard of culturally rich villages. Along with building a culturally rich life, the commune also focuses on building cultural and sports facilities, creating community spaces for people, and making an important contribution to improving the quality of cultural activities in the locality. To date, 100% of villages have cultural houses and sports fields. In particular, the emphasis on promoting social resources is a highlight in the work of building and improving the cultural and spiritual life of the local people. Thanks to social resources, arts and sports clubs are increasingly developing, organizing many exchange activities during holidays, festivals, and the National Unity Day, creating a healthy playground for local people; preserving traditional cultural values ​​and local identity, while also helping to connect people in residential areas, contributing to maintaining political security and social order in the area.
