VinFast is building an electric vehicle assembly plant in Indonesia.

On July 15th, VinFast , the electric vehicle company owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, officially broke ground on its vehicle assembly plant in Indonesia with an initial investment of $200 million, a capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year, and is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025.

VinFast's electric vehicle assembly plant is being built in Subang, Indonesia's new industrial hub, specializing in the production and assembly of models such as the VF3, VF5, VF6, and VF7 with left-hand drive versions, tailored to the Indonesian market. At the groundbreaking ceremony, General H. Moeldoko, Chief of Staff to the President of Indonesia, stated that the Indonesian government strongly encourages foreign investment, especially in the automotive industry. He believes the construction of the VinFast plant in Subang will not only positively impact the local economy but also create new job opportunities and improve the lives of the community. Meanwhile, Mr. Temmy Wiradjaja, General Manager of VinFast Indonesia, said that just a few months after officially launching the brand in the market, the groundbreaking ceremony confirms VinFast's systematic strategy of expanding and enhancing its competitiveness in the Indonesian market. Recently, VinFast has been strengthening its presence in this market by launching two electric SUV models, the VF5 and VF e34, in left-hand drive versions, and opening dealerships, implementing flexible sales policies and a unique battery leasing program. On the same day, VinFast introduced an upgraded version of the VF8 electric vehicle to Vietnamese customers, called the VF8 Lux. The car comes in two versions: VF8 Lux and VF8 Lux Plus, with battery leasing prices of 1.2 and 1.3 billion VND respectively. When purchased with the battery, the prices are 1.3 and 1.5 billion VND respectively. The VinFast VF8 Lux doesn't have many exterior changes. The new features of this upgraded version include a two-tone roof and body with up to 10 different color options to choose from. Additionally, the wheels have a more impressive design. Notably, this upgraded version also features software improvements. Accordingly, the VF8 Lux applies technology to make conversations between people and the car smarter with a voice-controlled virtual assistant integrated with generative AI technology. The VF8 Lux virtual assistant can proactively search and match available information on the Internet to provide complete, contextually appropriate answers.
