Vinh Long and Lam Dong launch programs to promote the popularization of “.vn” domain names locally

Implementing the "Program to promote and support people, businesses, and business households to have a reliable and safe online presence with digital services using the national domain name .vn in provinces and cities across the country in the period of 2024 - 2025", keeping up with the trend of new creative digital transformation, developing a strong digital economy and digital society nationwide, Vinh Long and Lam Dong launched programs to deploy and promote the registration and use of the Vietnamese national domain name ".vn", aiming to build a safe, professional and reliable online environment.

This is a joint activity between the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province, Cuu Long University and Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC). With special promotion and support policies, the program will support individuals, business households, and newly established enterprises to build a safe, professional, and trustworthy online environment through registering and using the domain name ".vn" with digital services (website, email ...).

Ms. Doan Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province, said that in the context of digital transformation taking place strongly nationwide, the development and use of the national domain name ".vn" is one of the important factors to affirm national digital sovereignty , promote Vietnamese brands on the Internet environment, and at the same time contribute to improving the competitiveness of people, businesses, and business households in the digital age; transform awareness into actions of registration, use, experience, and expand access opportunities through online presence with websites/emails using the domain name ".vn"; facilitate access and effective use of digital tools, promote comprehensive digital transformation.

In Lam Dong, VNNIC in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of Lam Dong province launched the "BrandID Website Design - Digital Citizen with ID.VN domain name" contest. This is an activity in a series of activities towards the Lam Dong province's Innovation and Digital Transformation Startup Festival within the framework of the national digital transformation program and promoting the development of the Vietnamese digital citizen community.

Sharing about the Program, VNNIC representative believes that the contest will bring a creative playground, aiming to encourage each person to own a professional personal website, while helping people better understand the role of the national domain name ".vn", especially the domain name ".id.vn" dedicated to each individual. Through that, the Contest hopes to spread the mindset of mastering the digital space, creating a personal brand for each citizen in a systematic and modern way.

Contestants are all Vietnamese citizens aged 18-23 who are living, studying and working in Lam Dong province (free of registration fees and fees for using the domain name "id.vn" and digital services (website, email, online CV...). However, individuals outside this age group can still participate on the condition that they pay for the domain name registration fee and accompanying digital services. Contestants will design a website using the domain name "id.vn" with content revolving around their personal brand, career ideals, startup projects or products and services they are developing.

Introducing the contest and the national domain name .vn

Owning and operating a website with the national domain name ".vn" helps students build a professional digital brand, increase trust in learning, starting a business and finding a job. Coming to the competition, students will have access to and practice essential digital skills, contributing to the development of a young workforce with digital knowledge and capacity, while accompanying the process of national digital transformation, developing the digital economy and digital society in Vietnam.
