The mascot is based on the "Red-shanked douc langur", a particularly rare animal species classified as endangered in the Vietnam Red Book, honored by the Wildlife Conservation Organization as the "queen" of primates.

Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang City is home to the largest population of "Red-shanked Douc" individuals in the world. This is an intelligent, agile, flexible species with a high sense of solidarity, suitable for the nature and sports activities.

In most of the Southeast Asian School Sports Festival, the choice of representative mascots often goes hand in hand with the image of the host country. Therefore, in the second time held in Vietnam, the choice of "Red-shanked douc langur" as the mascot has deeply expressed the national culture and at the same time is a typical symbol of Da Nang city.

The 13th Southeast Asian School Games 2024 (ASEAN School Games 13) will be held from May 29 to June 9, 2024 in Da Nang city. This is the second time Vietnam has hosted this event, the previous time was in 2013 in Hanoi .

With the message “Connecting and Shining”, the Congress is a connection of students from countries in the Southeast Asian region, a place for them to shine with their sports talents and solidarity for a generation of Southeast Asian integration and development.
