Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station - Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung visited the former Director of Long An Radio and Television Station on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
Former Director of Long An Radio and Television Station (now Long An Radio and Television Station) - Pham Van Dung: Journalism is a journey of continuous learning and adaptation. |
Perhaps never before has journalism faced as many challenges as it does today: the explosion of information, social networks penetrating every corner of life and artificial intelligence (AI) gradually "knocking on the door" of the newsroom. However, amidst the "storm" of technology, core values are always the beacon that guides true journalists.
Although I have only been in journalism for about 5 years, in my position, I have witnessed many changes, from the era of newspapers to radio and television to the current era of digital journalism. Each period has its own characteristics, but there is one thing I always keep in mind: Anyone who works in journalism, whether a reporter or a post-production department, if they do not keep up with the pace of change, will certainly fall behind, even be eliminated.
Now, we are facing a new challenge called artificial intelligence. Many people ask me whether it is unethical for reporters to abuse AI. I answer frankly that it depends entirely on the "heart" of the journalist.
I believe that if reporters abuse AI - like plagiarism or copying in academia - they will not survive in the long run. The most important thing is that we must remember the core principle: AI supports humans, not replaces humans. We still have to be the drivers, have the "heart" and the sobriety to report truthfully, objectively and with value.
Journalism is a journey of constant learning and adaptation. Always keep the flame of passion and a pure "heart" burning!

Journalist Thanh Thuy (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station): Ethics and thinking - "Guiding principles" in the AI era |
As a former student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, a school with a long tradition of journalism training, I have always been shaped in thinking and professional ethics since my student days. No matter how the flow of journalism changes, how modern the journalism environment becomes, the two words "ethics" are always the "compass" guiding my journey with journalism.
After more than 10 years of "burning" in the profession, I have witnessed the strong transformation of modern journalism, especially in the current period when artificial intelligence (AI) is on the rise. During the working process, AI is truly a powerful assistant. It helps journalists operate more conveniently through tools, software, and applications, thereby meeting the need for timely and quick information. However, it is also the modernity of this technology that makes the boundary between real and fake blurrier than ever. If we are not alert and do not carefully verify the source of information, journalists can easily fall into the trap of fake news, edited images, or get caught up in sensational information, clickbait, etc.
AI, after all, is a useful tool that helps us work more effectively, but the key factor is always the ethics and thinking of the user. No matter how much technology develops, the passion for the profession, ethics and sharp thinking of journalists must still be the prerequisites to ensure the objective truth of press information when conveyed to the public and for humans to always master artificial intelligence in the digital age.
Reporter Kim Thoa: Turning technology (AI) into a powerful assistant
Reporter Kim Thoa (Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station): Turning technology (AI) into a powerful assistant |
Entering the profession in the field of print journalism, I had months of familiarity with the pages and words, but now, after the merger of newspapers and radio, I have started a new journey, becoming a more “multi-talented” journalist and gradually approaching the work of making television works. Although I did not go through a professional journalism training environment, nearly 5 years of working in the profession have given me a lot. I have learned and inspired by my seniors and, most importantly, I have been able to live my passion.
In the context of the current Industrial Revolution 4.0, technology is penetrating every corner of life and journalism is no exception. In fact, technology brings too many conveniences. It helps us work more efficiently, faster, and promptly meet the information needs of readers. But because of that convenience, I sometimes worry. Are we too dependent on technology that we forget about critical thinking and the ability to independently verify?
As a journalist who is adapting to the digital flow every day, I always accept change and adapt myself to the digital journalism environment. Therefore, I always keep in mind that: Technology is for support, not for dependence. We must master technology, not let technology master us, so that each journalistic work always maintains honesty, objectivity and true value.

Mr. Chi Tam (Cultural, Information and Broadcasting Center of Tan Thanh district): Maintaining values in the flow of information |
When I first started my career, I started working at Nhon Hoa Commune Radio Station, Tan Thanh District. Although I was just an amateur, I gradually became "fated" by the profession and then became passionate about it. After that, I was determined to study Journalism. In 2020, I officially transferred to the District Radio Station (now the Tan Thanh District Cultural, Information and Broadcasting Center, Long An Province).
When I have lived in the profession, experienced and witnessed many things, I have become more aware of the challenges that journalists are facing. Especially in the context of the current information explosion, it is worrying that journalists only follow trends. Because we cannot simply be the ones to convey what is "hot" on social networks, but must be the ones to verify, analyze and orient information for readers. For me, whether at the grassroots or the front lines, the courage and alertness to not be swept away by temporary trends are extremely important. We must always remember that the responsibility of journalists is to bring accurate and reliable information, not trendy stories on social networks./.
