Regarding the case of 40 students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province, being hospitalized after breakfast at school, the leader of Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee said that the locality is coordinating to clarify the cause.
Kim Ngan Commune authorities also verified information that the Vice Principal of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School prevented students from being taken to the hospital.
The incident became noisy when a 44-second clip, filmed in the school's medical room, appeared, at the time the student had unusual symptoms.

In the clip, a woman believed to be teacher D.THH, Vice Principal of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School, had discussions with the principal and school health staff.
"Giving medicine to students must be witnessed by the principal or vice principal, do not give it yourself. You leave it where it is, I can confirm 100% that the students are fine, do not take them to the hospital, we are the principal and vice principal, we have to handle the work, the students are normal", the content is quoted in the clip.
From this clip, many parents and residents believe that Ms. H. prevented the student from being taken to the hospital and requested that the authorities and the school clarify the matter.
Talking to Dan Tri reporter, Ms. H. said that she was the one who had the exchanges in the above clip, but those 44 seconds were not enough to fully express the nature of the incident.
According to Ms. H., on the morning of September 26, the vice principal went to the school's medical room and saw some students with stomach aches. When she learned that the medical staff had given the students medicine, Ms. H. reminded them.
“Because I didn’t know what was wrong with the students, I reminded the medical staff that giving the students medicine had to be witnessed by the school leadership. Giving them medicine without a doctor’s prescription was very dangerous. At that time, I suggested rubbing oil on the students,” Ms. H. said.
Regarding the information about not allowing the student to be taken to the hospital, Ms. H. explained that as a mother and a teacher, she was very worried at that time, but had to stay calm to handle the situation.
“The hospital is 40km away from the school. Some people suggested taking the students by motorbike, but I was afraid it would be unsafe. The students were showing unusual symptoms, and the wind was even more dangerous. At that time, I said it was okay to reassure the students and some parents. I said I wouldn’t take them to the hospital so that I could wait for a car to be arranged to take them there safely,” Ms. H. explained.
Discussing food supply, Ms. H. said that the school has a supply contract with an outside unit and has fully implemented all procedures.
Ms. H. also informed that on September 26, the school kitchen received 76 banh tay, distributed 75 to students, and kept one as a food sample. According to Ms. H., the reason the students had stomach aches and suspected poisoning is still pending test results from the authorities.

As Dan Tri reported, at around 8:00 a.m. on September 26, many students at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School showed symptoms of nausea and stomachache after eating breakfast at school.
Kim Ngan Commune authorities coordinated with school teachers and parents to quickly take students with unusual symptoms to Le Thuy Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment. Of the 75 students who ate banh tay for breakfast, 40 had to be hospitalized, while the remaining 35 were monitored locally.
Mr. Ngo Duc Van, Director of Le Thuy Regional General Hospital, Quang Tri province, said that the students had symptoms of gastritis and enteritis, suspected to be caused by poisoning.
According to Mr. Van, after a period of treatment, all students have recovered and are completing discharge procedures on September 29.
