Recently, sitting with his parents, the child told about his journey across Vietnam.
The story begins with seemingly harmless online games. NKT (13 years old, living in Tay Ho ward, Hanoi ) made friends with a player named Hoang Anh. After a while, the two switched to chatting via Facebook and kept in regular contact for more than a year.
Hoang Anh introduced himself as a Vietnamese-Cambodian-Chinese national, always being friendly, caring, and frequently texting to ask about her, making her gradually trust him. During that time, T.'s use of the phone, playing games, and making friends online were not monitored by anyone, nor was anyone suspicious.
Many times, Hoang Anh invited T. to Tay Ninh to play with his friends, even suggesting a "trip to Cambodia". Although the adoptive mother did not agree, the biological mother, who rarely stayed with the child, nodded after a video call "asking permission" from the young stranger.
Immediately after that, Hoang Anh transferred 2.8 million VND to T., enough for him to buy a new phone, bus tickets and cover travel expenses. This phone did not have a SIM card, only used Wifi to communicate via Facebook as a way for the person who invited him to easily control the child's itinerary.
T. started her trip from Nuoc Ngam bus station (Hanoi), took a bus to Nghe An - Ha Tinh alone, then continued her journey to Nga Tu Ga bus station (HCMC). From here, she called a motorbike taxi to Hau Nghia ward (Tay Ninh province - the old Long An area), the destination had been arranged by her "internet friend". All instructions were sent step by step via text message.
In Tay Ninh, T. met his friends in the virtual world for the first time, including “Sister Ba Vy” (17 years old) - a friend he met through social networks. The meeting with Hoang Anh was also quick. They played games, chatted, then Hoang Anh took him home to rest, planning to continue the journey the next day.
However, that plan was interrupted by the timely intervention of the authorities. As soon as the police determined the child's location, the group quickly took T. out of Tay Ninh to avoid detection. Before leaving, Hoang Anh continued to give T. another 1.8 million VND to cover the cost of returning to Hanoi.
T. was discovered in Ho Chi Minh City and taken to An Phu Dong Ward Police Station. Upon meeting his daughter again, Mr. NVQ - the victim's biological father, could not hide his emotions, both happy and heartbroken at his daughter's naivety and ignorance.
When asked about her feelings after the journey, T. still kept an innocent smile: “ I feel very happy. But now I just want to stay with my biological parents. I am not afraid of my online friends, but I will not listen to them anymore.”
