(Dan Tri) - With the wrong authority to grant over 1,200 IT certificates, the Departmentof Education and Training of Dak Nong province is revoking these certificates and has held a meeting to review the responsibilities of related individuals and organizations.
On October 24, at a regular press conference organized by the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training of this province responded to Dan Tri newspaper about the article "More than 1,200 certificates were revoked because the Department of Education and Training issued them without authority".
Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of Dak Nong Department of Education and Training, said that according to Joint Circular No. 17 of 2016, the authority to grant certificates of information technology application belongs to the Center for Information Technology - Foreign Languages.

According to Mr. Hai, in 2019-2020, with the desire to strictly manage the issuance of certificates in the province, the Department of Education and Training signed and issued certificates of information technology application to 1,212 students who took the exam and met the requirements.
By November 2020, when the Department of Quality Management was established, the Ministry of Education and Training discovered that many Departments of Education and Training had signed and issued certificates of information technology application without proper authority.
Therefore, the Dak Nong Department of Education and Training has stopped issuing certificates and directed the Center for Continuing Education - Foreign Languages and Information Technology of this province to issue certificates to students according to regulations.
Mr. Hai said that the unit had asked for the Ministry of Education and Training’s opinion on the wrongly issued certificates four years ago but had not received any response, so the Dak Nong Department of Education and Training was slow in revoking them. Now, after receiving the opinion of the Provincial Inspectorate, the unit has quickly revoked them.
"The provincial Center for Continuing Education - Foreign Languages and Information Technology is actively contacting students to revoke their certificates. After recovering enough, the department will report and request the Ministry of Education and Training to issue blank certificates to reissue to students. Currently, over 700 certificates have been revoked," Mr. Hai informed.

The Director of the Dak Nong Department of Education and Training admitted that the issuance of the wrong certificate was a mistake. The department has held a meeting to review the responsibilities of the organizations and individuals involved in the issuance of the wrong certificate.
"Based on the nature and extent, the department agrees to review and draw profound lessons from the advisory work on the issuance of certificates without authority," Mr. Hai added.
As Dan Tri reported, the Center for Continuing Education - Foreign Languages and Information Technology of Dak Nong province has issued a notice to revoke and reissue basic information technology application certificates for 1,212 students issued 4 years ago.
The above certificates were issued by the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong to students who took the exam and met the requirements of the exam courses from July 7, 2019 to October 18, 2020, at the Examination Council of the Center for Continuing Education - Foreign Languages, Information Technology of Dak Nong province.
The reason is that these certificates must be issued by the Center for Continuing Education - Foreign Languages, Information Technology of Dak Nong province to be properly authorized.
