According to the Guardian , Brentford expect to collect a new £70m for Mbeumo to leave. This price has increased by £5m compared to the previous request, making the "Red Devils" co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe unhappy.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and sporting director Jason Wilcox have expressed their opposition to Brentford's new price, insisting that United are only willing to spend a maximum of £65m for the striker.
If United agree to Brentford's request, Mbeumo will become one of the most expensive contracts in the club's history. However, if they cannot get the signature of this 25-year-old player, this will be a big shock for "Red Devils" fans as MU has been pursuing this striker for the past few months.
The British press has reported that Mbeumo has expressed his desire to join MU. At the end of June, Ratcliffe and Wilcox believed that an offer of 65 million pounds would be enough to convince Brentford to sell their key striker. However, the club remained stubborn in negotiations.
The impasse in money negotiations has left MU fans extremely angry, especially with just a month left until the start of the new season.
On July 15, Mbeumo returned to training with the Brentford team. He has 1 year left on his contract with the club, with an option to extend it for another 12 months.
