On May 10, a leader of the Dak Lak Province Department of Education and Training said that they had received a report on the incident at Cao Ba Quat High School. The report included reports from teachers, leave requests, and requests to return to school from students, etc.
Students "voluntarily" take time off when reminded about studying?
According to the report of Mr. Nguyen Cong Su - homeroom teacher of class 12A08, student Y.Th. used to have poor academic performance and had dropped out of school since the beginning of the year to work for hire (Mr. Su was the homeroom teacher of the class since semester 2 - PV).
On April 8, after the results of the second semester exam were released, Mr. Su proactively invited Y.Th.’s parents and teachers to discuss. The school board and teachers advised her to temporarily stop working to prepare for the graduation exam. She agreed, promised to return to school, and in fact attended school regularly from April 8 to 11.
However, at noon on April 11, he texted his homeroom teacher to ask for a leave of absence. When asked why, he simply replied, "I don't want to go to school anymore."
Mr. Su continued to contact the family to encourage them, but the student still dropped out of school. To ensure his rights if he wanted to return to school the following year, Mr. Su instructed Y.Th. to write a request to defer his studies and submit it on April 14.

Another case is HG Byă, class 12A10, reported by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha, homeroom teacher, that she frequently missed regular classes (33 days) and did not fully participate in tutoring sessions. On the morning of April 16, Ms. Ha invited her and her mother to meet the principal to discuss.
At the meeting, Ms. Ha discovered that she was wearing many earrings, so she gently reminded her that this was not suitable for the school environment, and encouraged her to focus on studying to pass the graduation exam in time.
After a few minutes of talking privately with her mother in her native language, HG suddenly asked to leave school despite the teacher's advice to stay strong. Ms. Ha then guided her to fill out a request to stay, and she also reported the incident to the school board.
On the afternoon of May 8, HG and her mother returned to school, met with the homeroom teacher and principal to ask to return to school. However, the online high school graduation exam registration system was closed. The school still created conditions for her to continue studying, prepare for the exam next year and requested her to submit an application to return to school to the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training.
On May 5, the school received the application by mail. On May 8, the homeroom teacher invited parents to complete the procedures and told students to return to class from Monday, May 12.
The school affirmed that there was no case of teachers or principals advising weak students to stay home from school or refusing when they wanted to return to class.
Instructions for students to reserve are in accordance with regulations

Regarding the information reported by the press, Cao Ba Quat High School confirmed that there were three cases of 12th grade students applying to reserve their study results.
Of these, two students, HG Byă (class 12A10) and Y.Th. (class 12A08), have completed their reservation records in accordance with the regulations in Circular 32 dated December 26, 2018 of the Ministry of Education and Training on the new general education program. Another case, student YLE, is currently being verified.
The school said that the reservation had the consent of parents and was given specific instructions to ensure future learning rights.
In HG's case, after requesting to reserve, the parents went to the school to request for their child to re-take the course but there was no official request.
It was not until May 5 that the school received the official application by mail and completed the procedures for the student to return to school from May 12.
Regarding the report that "the homeroom teacher and principal invited parents and students for consultation leading to the absence from school", the school confirmed that there was a meeting, but affirmed that the content was not as reported.
"The exchanges are always based on the principle of student interests, without coercion or pressure," the report stated.
A leader of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training said the department is continuing to verify and clarify the incident.
"On the afternoon of May 9, we set up a team to directly inspect the school and grasp the initial information. Because the school is organizing a graduation exam, the review of the entire incident is still continuing to have thorough information," said this leader.
