Gas tank explosion in Ho Chi Minh City: Pregnant woman in her 26th week of pregnancy suffers 95% burns

On the afternoon of October 18, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) said that they are currently making efforts to treat a female patient who suffered severe burns in the gas tank explosion in Thu Duc City that occurred that morning.

Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep - Head of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department, Cho Ray Hospital - said the patient, Ms. LTHP (33 years old), was admitted to the hospital with gas burns covering 95% of her body. The patient is 26 weeks pregnant with her fourth child.

The patient is currently in severe burn shock, pulse and blood pressure cannot be measured, and is receiving intensive treatment.

As Tuoi Tre Online reported at around 4am the same day, residents living in alley 676 To Ngoc Van street (Tam Binh ward, Thu Duc city) heard a loud explosion in a row of boarding houses.

Immediately afterwards, people nearby heard the cry for help of a burned woman running out of a rented room.

Through checking in the rented room, many furniture were burned black.

People helped take this woman, Ms. LTHP (33 years old, living in Dong Nai province) to the emergency room in a state of severe burns.

Upon receiving the news, Thu Duc City Police were present to block off, examine the scene, and investigate the cause.

According to initial information, Ms. P. woke up to cook instant noodles for breakfast. When Ms. P. turned on the gas stove, it exploded, the fire spread, causing her to be burned and she was taken to Thu Duc Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital for treatment.
