Recently, a number of water transport enterprises and ship owners operating in water transport on Nui Coc Lake have reported that many newly built tourist boats are safe but have to stay ashore and cannot operate because they have not completed inspection procedures. This situation is causing difficulties for many businesses, causing work to stagnate while the peak tourist season has begun.
Three newly built ships worth tens of billions of dong are awaiting inspection. |
As the irrigation lake with the largest water storage capacity in the province, Nui Coc Lake not only supplies water for agricultural production but also serves as an attractive eco-tourism destination for visitors. Nui Coc Lake area currently has more than 10 tourist boat operators, the largest of which are Doan An Nursing Home 16 - Nui Coc and Nui Coc Lake Trade Union Hotel and Tourism Joint Stock Company, the rest are private units.
To ensure the safety of tourists on the lake, many units have built new boats, but some new boats are not inspected, while it is the peak tourist season, making boat owners "restless".
Typically, Nui Coc Lake Trade Union Hotel and Tourism Joint Stock Company recently invested in building 3 new tourist boats with a total value of over 30 billion VND, with a capacity of about 100 tourists each trip, expected to be exploited from this year's tourist season, but up to now all 3 boats are still on shore waiting for inspection.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Chi, General Director of Nui Coc Lake Trade Union Hotel and Tourism Joint Stock Company, said: Before building the ship, the unit had completed all procedures to be allowed to build the ship at the lake. The necessary procedures were completed by the end of January 2023. It is expected that the inspection will be completed in February 2023 and the ship will be put into operation in April 2023. However, due to problems with inspection, all 3 ships have not been put into operation yet. The unit has repeatedly requested the Department of Registration and the Ministry of Transport to resolve the issue, but so far it has not been implemented.
The main reason why the 3 ships of the Nui Coc Lake Trade Union Hotel and Tourism Joint Stock Company could not be inspected was because the unit was initially licensed to build ships in Son Tay. However, because the ships were completed and could not be transported to Nui Coc Lake for launching, the unit requested permission to transfer all materials to Nui Coc Lake for assembly, which violated regulations.
The newly built ships are safe and ready to serve tourists but have not been inspected. |
Falling into the same difficult situation as the Nui Coc Lake Trade Union Hotel and Tourism Joint Stock Company, Mr. Duong Van Ha, owner of the Ha Huong passenger ship, said: To ensure safety for transporting tourists to visit the lake, my family borrowed money to build a new 40-seat passenger ship. The new ship was completed and inspected for fire prevention, fire fighting, and protection... but it has been more than 4 months and has not been inspected. The new ship cost billions of dong but has not been put into operation, my family still has to pay interest every month...
According to statistics, there are currently 27 inland waterway vehicles carrying tourists operating on Nui Coc Lake. Currently, the inspection of waterway vehicles is carried out by the Inland Waterway Inspection Department, Region 1. To limit the impact on the activities of organizations and individuals related to the inspection of inland waterway vehicles, the Thai Nguyen Department of Transport has repeatedly requested the Inland Waterway Inspection Department, Region 1, to have a plan to remove difficulties for businesses.
Mr. Nguyen To An, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Register, said: To thoroughly resolve this situation, the Department has reported to the Ministry of Transport and proposed a plan to quickly remove difficulties for businesses to ensure the rights of ship owners, and soon put the vehicles into operation to serve tourists visiting Nui Coc Lake safely.
