According to AFP, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew, two controversial figures in the British royal family, will still attend the coronation of King Charles III on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London but will not play any official role in the ceremony. Prince Harry's wife, Meghan, will not attend her father-in-law's ceremony but will stay in California (USA) with their children.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Prince Andrew, Duke of York, will also not be in the procession following the Gold State Coach carrying the new monarch from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.
King Charles III's youngest son, Harry (38 years old), and his wife gave up royal duties in 2020. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew (63 years old), King Charles III's younger brother, has been criticized for his involvement with American pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
The coronation of King Charles III was also the first time Prince Harry had seen his family since the release of his memoir "Spare" and a series of television interviews that have drawn harsh criticism from the British royal family.
At the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, each royal duke took an oath to show respect and loyalty to the queen.
During King Charles III's ceremony, only Prince William, the heir to the throne, will recite the oath of "allegiance" and pay "homage to the royal blood". This means Prince Harry will not have to kneel before his father.
After the coronation, the British royal family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the military planes take off. Buckingham Palace has not yet said whether Prince Harry and Prince Andrew will appear on the palace balcony.
Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne, after his brother Prince William and William's three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis of Wales.
Prince Andrew is eighth in line, behind Harry and his children - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
On May 6, Prince Archie also marked his 4th birthday. Therefore, Prince Harry may quickly leave the UK to return to California with his wife and children.
