Overcoming difficulties, urgently constructing the Ke Go Lake Upgrade and Repair Project
(Baohatinh.vn) - Taking advantage of favorable weather, the investor is making efforts to urge construction units to work overtime to bring the Ke Go Lake Upgrade and Repair Project (Ha Tinh) to the finish line on schedule.

Ke Go Reservoir was built in 1976, with a capacity of 345 million m³, and is the most important irrigation project in Ha Tinh. Ke Go Reservoir not only serves to irrigate tens of thousands of hectares of agricultural land but also has the task of cutting and reducing floods for downstream areas, providing domestic water and maintaining the ecological environment. After nearly 50 years of operation, many upgrades have been made, but many items of the project have degraded, potentially posing a risk of insecurity during the rainy and flood season. Therefore, investment in upgrading and repairing is an urgent requirement to ensure project safety, improve disaster prevention capabilities, and better meet production needs and people's lives. On that basis, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has implemented the Ke Go Lake Upgrade and Repair Project with a total investment of more than 350 billion VND. The project, constructed by a consortium of JSC 47 - JSC Lilama 10 - JSC Construction 465, started in December 2024 and is expected to be completed after 18 months. The main items include repairing and upgrading the main dam; building a new spillway; building a new operating house; upgrading the mechanical system at Doc Mieu spillway and the dike. When completed, the project will contribute to improving the flood prevention capacity of Ke Go Lake; preventing floods from outside into the communes and wards of the old Ha Tinh city; supporting drainage for about 16,500 hectares of agricultural land and residential areas in the downstream area and improving the environment and ecology in the area.
According to records, in recent days, taking advantage of the sunny weather, construction units are concentrating on human resources and machinery to deploy items. At the construction site, many workers and engineers are working diligently with a sense of urgency to make up for the time the project was delayed due to continuous adverse weather.
Up to now, the main dam project has completed the construction of the water collection filter strip, the downstream slope at elevations of 17 and 24m; the earth filling at the axis has reached elevations of 30.8/35.5m; the downstream load-bearing block has been basically completed; and the rubble paving has reinforced the downstream slope at elevations of 16/17m. For the flood spillway category, the foundation pit has been dug, and the volume has reached over 83% so far. The traffic bridge across the flood discharge channel has completed the bridge deck pouring. This is a great effort of the investor and construction units, contributing to connecting and meeting the daily travel needs of the people.
In the sub-dams 1 and 2, up to now, the construction of the water intake strip, foundation reinforcement and basically completed the embankment.
At Doc Mieu spillway, the repair of exposed steel reinforcement has been completed; the repair of the operating house on the spillway has reached over 80%. However, the two electric poles have not been relocated, making it impossible for the unit to continue constructing the spillway system.
One of the biggest difficulties in implementing the project is due to the erratic weather, continuous rain and storms causing the construction to be delayed, interrupted and also difficult to mobilize and arrange machinery and human resources. On the other hand, in the new spillway construction item, there is still a problem with the site when 2 electric poles have not been relocated, making it impossible for the construction unit to continue constructing the spillway system. I hope that the local Party Committee and government will coordinate with relevant units to soon remove obstacles and relocate the electric pole system to facilitate the construction units. On the investor's side, we will make efforts to supervise and urge the construction units, take advantage of favorable weather to mobilize all machinery and human resources to speed up the progress of the items, bringing the project to the finish line on schedule.
