Overcoming Thailand, Vietnamese women's petanque won the world championship for the second consecutive time.

Vietnam Petanque has two teams participating in the women's trio event of the 2025 world championship, Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2.

In which, Vietnam team 2 includes 4 athletes: Nguyen Thi Thi, Lai Thi Dung ( Hanoi ), Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu (Army) and Nguyen Thi Nhu Y (HCMC).

Nguyen Thi Thi is a regular starter and a pillar of the team with stable performance. The remaining three players take turns taking two positions depending on each match.

Closing Ceremony of the 2025 National Team Petanque Championship

VHO - On the afternoon of May 23, at the Soc Trang Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the summary and closing ceremony of the 2025 National Petanque Team Championship.

In the tournament, both teams Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 were exempted from the first round. In the second round, team Vietnam 1 beat Chinese Taipei 13-5, while team Vietnam 2 beat Czech Republic 13-6.

In the quarter-finals, the two teams had to face each other directly and Vietnam team 2 won 13-3 to enter the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Vietnam team 2 beat Belgium 13-10 despite being down 6-0 at one point.

In the final, against the world-class opponent Thailand, the Vietnamese girls played confidently and effectively, completely controlling the game.

At the end of the match, Vietnam 2 team won impressively with a score of 13-1, one of the most lopsided results in the history of confrontation between the two teams.

This is also the second consecutive championship of Vietnamese petanque in the women's trio event.

At the 2023 World Championship in Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team won the women's trios world championship for the first time after a 13-12 victory over host Thailand.
