Manchester City have no intention of allowing the England defender back into the first team for the 2025/26 season.

According to Calciomercato , AC Milan's board of directors highly rate Kyle Walker, but the club must reassess its financial situation after failing to qualify for next season's European Cup. They also believe that the English player is no longer at his peak.

Therefore, AC Milan's board of directors decided to postpone the plan to buy the player outright. To facilitate negotiations, Walker was willing to take a pay cut if AC Milan bought him outright.

Walker is happy in Milan and has no desire to return to Manchester. The defender is moving to Serie A in the January 2025 transfer window. AC Milan have an option to buy Walker for €5m (£4.17m).

However, in the context of Milan's recent decline and inability to participate in the Champions League next season, the club's financial situation will be seriously affected.

AC Milan do not want to activate the €5m buyout clause, instead they want Manchester City to reduce the player's price to €1-2m.

As for Manchester City, Walker's chances of staying at the Etihad Stadium next season are almost gone. Last week, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the England international would not be in the squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.
