New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon presided over the welcoming ceremony, which began with a traditional Maori warrior dance to welcome distinguished guests. The special welcoming ceremony was also attended by the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament. Afterwards, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh participated in the Hongi ceremony (touching noses, a typical Maori greeting).

During the official welcoming ceremony, the Prime Minister of New Zealand and his wife, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the Deputy Commander of the New Zealand Army welcomed the Prime Minister and his wife before the podium of honor.
After the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon held talks to agree on directions to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries. This is Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's first visit to New Zealand as head of government and also the first visit by a foreign head of government to New Zealand in Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's new term. Vietnam is New Zealand's 14th largest trading partner. Two-way trade turnover in 2023 reached 1.3 billion USD. New Zealand has 52 investment projects with a total capital of 208.35 million USD, ranking 39th out of 143 countries and territories with foreign direct investment in Vietnam. The Vietnamese community in New Zealand has about 10,000 people, serving as an important bridge in the relationship between the two countries. During his visit to New Zealand, the Prime Minister will meet and hold talks with senior leaders of New Zealand to discuss measures to further promote bilateral cooperation, including promoting key and traditional areas of cooperation such as trade, investment, especially cooperation in labor , education - training, agriculture , etc.

Earlier, on the first day of his visit to New Zealand yesterday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife visited Auckland, New Zealand's "gateway to the world". There, the Prime Minister met with the Vietnamese intellectual community and scientists in the technology field in New Zealand, and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between four Vietnamese universities and Waikato University, New Zealand's leading university with 50 Vietnamese students studying there.
