The city's science and technology sector is accelerating the progress of five priority projects, thereby creating infrastructure to meet the requirements of scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and digital transformation.
Priority projects include: Artificial intelligence research and laboratory; Fab-Lab, a laboratory combining small-scale production of advanced semiconductor packaging technology; Da Nang Innovation Space; Investment in equipment and machinery for the Da Nang Biotechnology Center; Investment in equipment and LAN renovation for new commune and ward headquarters after the merger.
Regarding the project "Laboratory combined with small-scale production of advanced semiconductor packaging technology Fab-Lab" with a total investment of VND 1,800 billion, the investor is implementing according to the prescribed schedule and is expected to inaugurate in the first quarter of 2026. The project's operating period is 50 years from the date the project is approved for investment policy.
Regarding the project "Laboratory and research (lab) on artificial intelligence", Director of the Center for Research and Training on Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence in Da Nang (DSAC, Management Board of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks) Le Hoang Phuc informed: The project is being implemented together with the bidding for component 2, phase 1 of Da Nang Software Park No. 2 (ICT 2 building and 20-storey ICT building).
Currently, DSAC Center has received the handover of lab space on the 4th floor, Danang Software Park No. 2.
At the same time, DSAC is coordinating with the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Works in Da Nang to carry out bidding activities for infrastructure and equipment to keep up with the schedule to put the lab into operation by the end of 2025.
On June 17, the City People's Committee approved the investment policy for the project "Da Nang Innovation Space" (An Hai ward) with a total investment of nearly 490 billion VND, a land area used for construction of 1,863m2 and implementation period of 2025 - 2028.
According to the Department of Science and Technology, the project is a scientific and technological infrastructure asset to provide innovation space, shared working area, incubator facilities and shared technical equipment, office equipment, information technology infrastructure to support projects and innovative startups according to Resolution No. 136/2024/QH14 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.
The project "Investment in equipment and machinery for the Danang Biotechnology Center" has been approved by the city to adjust and supplement the public investment capital plan for 2025 and the medium-term public investment capital plan for the period 2021 - 2025.
Currently, the Department of Science and Technology has established a Council to evaluate the report proposing investment policies for the project of investing in equipment and machinery for the Da Nang Biotechnology Center.
Regarding "Investing in equipment and renovating LAN for new commune and ward headquarters after the merger", the City People's Committee approved the project with a total cost of nearly 15 billion VND.
The city is carrying out bidding procedures; it is expected to complete the selection of a construction contractor in August and complete construction in September 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the City Department of Science and Technology, said that the department advised the City People's Committee and the City People's Council to approve the medium-term public investment portfolio to serve the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and digital transformation.
On April 26, 2025, the City People's Council (old) approved the list of projects in Resolution No. 20/NQ-HDND, approving 66 projects with a total investment of VND 2,348 billion in the period of 2026 - 2030. Of which, 5 priority projects to be implemented in 2025 are VND 845 billion and 61 projects in the period of 2026 - 2030 are VND 1,503 billion.
“Accelerating the progress of 5 priority projects in 2025 is one of the important tasks that the department focuses on implementing, thereby creating infrastructure, contributing to the development of the science and technology ecosystem, innovative startups and digital transformation in the city.
At the same time, the department is monitoring the progress, urging and proposing solutions to deploy other infrastructures such as Da Nang Bay Information Technology Park (VNPT), Viettel Da Nang Building", Mr. Hong informed.
