As part of a long-standing alliance, the global basketball equipment giant and longest-standing global partner of the International Basketball Federation is stepping up efforts to address the issue of youth sports exclusion and increase female leadership across the region. The new campaign builds on Molten’s four-year investment in the Local Girls Champions program, which has highlighted community champions who are driving female participation in basketball.
Molten and the International Basketball Federation promote participation in women's basketball across the Americas.
This summer, Molten expanded the “Keep Playing” campaign globally, launching a series of events in Europe, Asia and the Americas. The most recent stop took the initiative to Chile, coinciding with the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 and the Adelante 3.0 program, a joint effort by FIBA Americas to identify, inspire and equip the next generation of female leaders in sports.
With the support of Carol Callan, member of the International Basketball Federation Central Council and the first woman to lead FIBA Americas, a special survey of under-23 and veteran players was conducted. The questionnaire sought to understand the reasons why girls from across the region leave the sport.
The results from the survey will be analyzed by Molten and FIBA Americas to shape appropriate solutions, including increasing gender representation in clubs and federations and investing in the development of elite female coaches and referees.
A series of proposals were also submitted by the participants themselves, who presented their insights and discussed possible ideas. Based on these contributions, a group of outstanding young leaders will be selected to attend the 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup, marking a unique opportunity for mentorship and international elevation.
Founded in 1958 and headquartered in Hiroshima, Japan, Molten Corporation is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality sports balls and the official ball supplier for all International Basketball Federation tournaments. Molten’s commitment to sports equity is as widely recognized as the company’s products on the court. By combining sports with leadership, and data with dialogue, the “Play On” project is laying the foundation for a more inclusive and sustainable future for women’s basketball.
