A tech enthusiast decided to test this possibility by installing Windows 11 on Xiaomi's POCO X3 Pro. The experiment was shared by a user named anh0l on Reddit, along with images proving that this is completely possible.
POCO X3 Pro is fully capable of running Windows 11 but the battery drains very quickly
According to anh0l , this success is thanks to Project Renegade - an open source project that allows Windows to be installed on some Android phones. Anh 01 said Windows 11 runs smoothly on the POCO X3 Pro, showing that this device has powerful enough hardware to run Microsoft's operating system.
The Windows 11 experience on phones isn't perfect
However, not everything is perfect. Anh0l pointed out some disadvantages of the product, especially the problem of the touch screen with some errors. To install successfully, users need to use an alternative version of UEFI designed specifically for smartphones, along with "injecting" some specific drivers.
When asked about the usability of the phone running Windows 11, anh0l said the experience was not good. The battery of the POCO X3 Pro only lasted about 2.5 hours, charged slowly, and the device quickly heated up. This shows that although it is possible to install Windows 11 on the POCO X3 Pro, the user experience is not really ideal.
Anh0l shared that he joined this project simply because he wanted to answer the question "why not?" His purpose was to prove that installing Windows 11 on an Android phone is feasible but cannot replace daily use.
Through the test, Windows Mobile fans can hope for a return of this operating system on mobile devices. However, Microsoft currently has no plans to revive its smartphone software.
