On October 10th, in Quy Nhon City, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade , held a ceremony to announce the completion of the project to bring the national power grid to Nhon Chau island commune via underwater cable. This is one of the important projects of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), with the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) acting as the investor.

Delegates performed the energization ceremony for the project to bring the national power grid to Nhon Chau island commune.
According to EVNCPC, the project to bring the national power grid to Nhon Chau island commune via submarine cable has four main components: installing a 22 kV outgoing feeder at the 110 kV Song Cau substation (Phu Yen province) and a 22 kV overhead line on the mainland in Song Cau town, over 12 km long; constructing a new 22 kV single-circuit submarine cable, over 10 km long, connecting the 22 kV Hoa An switching station in Xuan Hoa commune, Song Cau town to Nhon Chau island commune; building the power grid on Nhon Chau island; and constructing a fiber optic cable system over 12 km long connecting the mainland with the island to serve the local population and manage the power grid.
The project has a total investment of over 351 billion VND, of which the European Union (EU) provided 280 billion VND in non-refundable funding, and the remaining amount is counterpart funding from EVNCPC. To ensure that residents of Nhon Chau island commune have access to a stable national grid electricity supply, the electricity sector has invested nearly 600 million VND per household on the island.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, Ho Quoc Dung, presented awards to individuals and units with outstanding achievements in the implementation of the project.
According to Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the completion of the project is a significant milestone for Nhon Chau island commune. From now on, the island commune will have a stable, sufficient, and high-quality power supply, ready to serve all the production, business, and daily life needs of the island's residents.
Nhon Chau is a strategically important island commune in terms of national defense and security, as well as the marine economic development of Binh Dinh province. Currently, Nhon Chau island commune has about 600 households with more than 2,500 inhabitants who make a living from fishing and aquaculture.

Before the national power grid was connected, the island's residents only received electricity from diesel generators for eight hours a day. This unstable and inconsistent power supply significantly impacted national security, defense, and economic development on the island.
Therefore, the provision of national grid electricity to Nhon Chau island commune is a significant event, improving the lives of the island's residents. At the same time, it is a crucial condition for economic, cultural, and social development; contributing to political stability, maintaining security and defense, and protecting the sovereignty of the nation's territory and maritime areas.
