Gia Phu Commune: Move people out of areas at risk of landslides

Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, Chairman of Gia Phu Commune People's Committee, said that on the night of October 1, local authorities urgently evacuated two households in Tan Tien village whose walls collapsed due to a landslide behind their houses; in the area, about 30 other households were also affected by the risk of landslides.

Two households whose houses were damaged by landslides were urgently evacuated.

According to the inspection of Gia Phu Commune People's Committee, the area at risk of landslides on the positive slope behind the households in Tan Tien village is about 150 m long; there are many cracks and extrusion lines at the foot of the slope, and many places have collapsed into people's houses.

Many cracks on the slope are ready to collapse onto the households below.

Currently, local authorities are sending people to monitor and check regularly 24/7 at landslide-prone areas; at the same time, they are preparing conditions to move the remaining 30 households to safety if necessary.

The commune has arranged 1 cultural house and 2 school branches to prepare for the evacuation of people (about 300 meters from the above area).

In the long term, the locality will report to the province to request funding to support overcoming the risk of landslides as soon as possible, to ensure safety and stabilize the lives of people in the area.
