Dak Lua remote commune develops sustainable new rural areas

Striving to change the face of the countryside

Dak Lua is a remote commune, with an area of over 415.1km2 and a population of over 8,200 people.

In recent years, the rural appearance of the commune has changed significantly. The commune has determinedly implemented the New Rural Development Program, creating a strong movement with great influence and achieving many outstanding results. The commune will reach the advanced new rural standards by the end of 2024.

Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Dak Lua Commune, Phan Van Tung, said: The economic structure in the commune has shifted in the right direction. The material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, the average income per capita in 2025 will reach 84 million VND, an increase of 8.5% compared to 2020. Agricultural production is concentrated in the direction of intensive farming, applying science and technology, shifting the structure of crops and livestock appropriately. Trade, services, and small-scale industry have had significant developments.

At the same time, the political security, order and social safety situation in the commune is maintained and stable. The movement of the whole people protecting the security of the Fatherland is actively responded by the people. The work of Party building is always respected and improved by the commune. The movement of the whole people uniting to build a cultural life in residential areas is increasingly going into depth.

The locality has paid attention to innovation in education, training, science and technology. The quality of the teaching staff has been improved, and the facilities have been ensured. Three out of three schools in the commune have met national standards. The commune has paid attention to and directed the fields of health, poverty reduction and job creation, and the poverty rate has decreased significantly. Ethnic and religious policies have been well implemented, promoting the building of great national unity...

“The above results are vivid and clear evidence of the efforts in leadership, drastic and creative direction and especially the spirit of solidarity, unity and one-pointedness of the entire Party Committee of the commune. At the same time, it is also the response, joint efforts and unanimity of all classes of people, all for the development of Dak Lua homeland” - Mr. Phan Van Tung emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoan, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Hamlet 4, Dak Lua Commune, shared: “With the characteristics of being a remote commune of the province, Dak Lua has made great efforts to develop in the past time. Although there are still many difficulties and challenges, with the determination of the Party Committee, government, organizations and people in the commune, I believe that in the coming time, Dak Lua commune will operate according to the model of an effective and modern 2-level local government…”.

Speaking at the Congress of Dak Lua Commune Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, comrade Nguyen Minh Hoi, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, emphasized: The commune needs to focus on increasing the attraction of resources for development; focus on economic development in the direction of high-tech agricultural development, based on the advantages and available natural resources of the locality... Besides, the commune needs to focus on effectively exploiting the unique characteristics of Dak Lua such as: large agricultural land area, Cat Tien National Park and Dong Nai River flowing through, unique, diverse and rich indigenous culture... to create new momentum for agriculture and tourism in the coming time.

Promoting high-tech agricultural models

From the achieved results, the Party Executive Committee of the commune has set out the orientation for building and developing the commune in the next 5 years. In particular, the commune will promote all resources to accelerate the restructuring of crops and livestock for productivity, quality and efficiency; maintain political security, social order and safety; maintain the commune to meet the advanced new rural standards and strive to build Dak Lua commune to develop sustainably, meeting the modern new rural standards.

Party Secretary and Chairman of Dak Lua Commune People's Council Phan Van Tung shared: The commune will focus on promoting high-tech agricultural models, including models applying science and technology, improving productivity for rice fields - one of the main crops of the locality. At the same time, the commune will focus on promoting the effectiveness of collective economic models, promoting trade promotion activities; surveying, connecting, and finding stable outputs for local agricultural products and OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program).

Mr. Bui Xuan Bay, a farmer living in Hamlet 3, Dak Lua Commune, said: “For about 2 years now, my family has implemented a model of growing melons in greenhouses combined with the use of drip irrigation systems and the application of science and technology to increase productivity. Initially, this model has brought quite high economic efficiency, with an average of 3-4 harvests per year from the melon garden, supplying the local market and Ho Chi Minh City. I hope that in the coming time, the commune government will continue to support to connect and expand the market, promote the brand of local high-tech agricultural products.”
