Golden Ball 2025 award ceremony, prestigious individual title organized by France Football will take place on September 22. Accordingly, the list of 30 candidates for this award will be announced by the magazine on August 7.
This is the next year the award will be based on performance over a single season, which runs from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025. Instead of following a full calendar year as before.
A notable new feature at this year’s ceremony is the expansion of award categories for women’s football. These include Best Young Player, Best Goalkeeper and Top Scorer.
The most notable will certainly be the men's Ballon d'Or award. Ousmane Dembele is considered the number 1 candidate for the award thanks to his impressive achievements with PSG.
The French striker was a key factor in PSG's first Champions League title. Even though they lost the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to Chelsea, the odds in Dembele's favor were not much affected.
His teammates Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi, Fabian Ruiz are also expected to be on the top 10 shortlist.
Barca's Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are also highly rated for their competitiveness.
Meanwhile, the current 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, Rodri, will almost certainly not be able to defend his title due to a serious cruciate ligament injury.

Ballon d'Or for men and women.
Kopa Award for best young player (male and female).
Yashin Award for best goalkeeper (male and female).
Gerd Müller Award for top scorer (men's and women's).
Johan Cruyff Award for Coach of the Year (men's and women's).
Socrates Prize for Social Activities.
Club of the year (men and women).
