In the late autumn sun, people passing through Van Vi Street, Luong Van Tri Ward all feel their hearts softened under the shade of the roadside Lagerstroemia trees. In recent years, the ward has focused on planning trees for each area and each street, creating synchronous green areas, both ensuring a fresh living environment and enhancing urban aesthetics. Thanks to that, many streets in the area have become landscape highlights such as: Quang Trung Street is shaded by Bodhi and wild cinnamon trees; Hung Vuong Street stretches with the yellow color of bellflowers and areca palms;... Currently, the whole ward has more than 3,000 shade trees of all kinds on the streets.
Ms. Tran Thi Hien, Cua Nam block, Luong Van Tri ward said: Every afternoon, I go for a walk in Chi Lang park. Under the rows of green trees planted in clusters and rows, the air is very fresh. Compared to before, the urban area is more spacious, and the trees are also well cared for.
Or at Huu Nghi International Border Gate - an important "gateway" for trade in the country, trees and flowers have been planned and cared for to become landscape highlights. Along the roads are rows of royal areca, red osaka, and ban trees interspersed with colorful flower beds such as petunias, hibiscus, and five-color flowers. Thanks to that, the border gate space is increasingly green, creating a beautiful impression for tourists and people passing by.
Mr. Dinh Van Lam, Director of Vietnam - China Lang Son Ornamental Plants Co., Ltd. said: In the border gate areas in the province alone, we have planted over 3,100 shade trees and over 2,000 m² of flower beds and ornamental trees. In addition to regular planting and replacement, we pay special attention to care and pruning to prevent trees from falling, ensuring safety and preserving the landscape.
Green spaces are also expanded and developed in new urban areas, aiming for a green, synchronous and sustainable urban appearance.
A typical example is the new urban area of Huu Lung (Huu Lung commune) with an area of over 52 hectares, total investment capital of 2,200 billion VND. In the planning, 20% of the land fund is reserved for green trees.
Mr. Le Ngoc Dien, representative of the Project Management Board, Truong Thinh Phat Real Estate Company Limited, said: Up to now, the unit has planted more than 530 trees (cassia, purple-flowered trees, rosewood, Taiwanese frangipani, etc.), covering the green space synchronously according to the design, contributing to creating a fresh living space for future residents.
Up to now, the province has 15 urban areas, including 1 type II urban area, 1 type IV urban area, 13 type V urban areas; the urbanization rate is about 30%. The number of shade trees is estimated at about 20,000 trees of all kinds. In the green urban development strategy, the province pays special attention to planning and expanding the system of parks, public spaces and urban green trees. The province has included the criterion of reserving at least 20% of land fund for green infrastructure in many large projects, while encouraging new urban areas and resettlement areas to plant trees in patches and along routes to ensure uniformity and create landscapes.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Deputy Head of the Department of Planning - Architecture and Urban Development, Department of Construction said: In the planning, trees are identified as essential infrastructure. Through review, up to now, the urban green land area is about 1,011 hectares including: public green trees, sports , isolation and ecology. Some central areas have detailed planning with parks, ecological lakes, green tree axes, contributing to improving the environment. The Department of Construction is reviewing to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue regulations on tree species, to ensure harmony between the landscape and local climate.
Tree management, care and maintenance are also carried out regularly. Wards and communes coordinate with specialized units to prune, shape and replace diseased or unsuitable trees, in order to maintain uniformity and sustainable development of urban green areas. At the same time, the province has implemented many tree planting projects, creating continuous tree strips connecting residential areas with parks, schools and commercial centers, both improving the climate, reducing dust and forming "green lungs" for the community.
Lang Son is gradually “greening” the urban landscape. Each tree canopy not only provides shade but also contributes to regulating the climate and building a sustainable living environment. In the coming time, the province will mobilize more resources to develop architecture and landscape, creating a clearer change in the urban space, towards a green, clean, beautiful and civilized city.
