Kinhtedothi - On March 25th, the Hanoi Capital Command organized a ceremony to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force's Traditional Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).
At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious 90-year tradition of building, fighting, maturing, and winning of the Vietnamese militia and self-defense forces in general, and the militia and self-defense forces of Hanoi in particular.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Dao Van Nhan, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Hanoi Capital Command, emphasized that over 90 years of building, fighting, and maturing, under the leadership of the City Party Committee and the Resistance Committee, the Hanoi militia and self-defense forces have developed rapidly, serving as the core force protecting rallies and demonstrations of revolutionary masses, safeguarding Party leadership organs, and acting as a shock force alongside the main army and local troops in attacking and destroying the enemy in the capital.
During the 2020-2025 term, implementing Program No. 09-CTr/TU dated March 17, 2021, of the Hanoi City Party Committee on "Strengthening national defense and security potential to maintain political stability and social order in the city during the 2021-2025 period," the city established 10 permanent militia platoons at the district level, 156 permanent militia squads at the commune level, and built 206 working offices for the commune-level Military Command Boards.
The percentage of Party members in the militia and self-defense forces reached over 23%, and in the reserve mobilization forces reached over 10%, exceeding the targets set in Program No. 09-CTr/TU. To date, the commanders of the commune-level military commands have been standardized, with qualifications from intermediate level upwards, and 65.5% holding college or university degrees. By the end of 2025, 75-80% will have college or university degrees. Major General Dao Van Nhan requested that the Hanoi militia and self-defense forces continue to uphold their glorious traditions and heroic achievements, awaken national pride and self-respect, enhance patriotism, self-reliance, and self-improvement, overcome all difficulties and challenges; strive to build a strong national defense system, and build a national defense posture linked to a solid people's security posture. On this occasion, the Hanoi Capital Command awarded commendations to 19 collectives and 30 individuals for their outstanding achievements in building the militia and self-defense forces.
