New countryside, new vitality
Coming to Kim Son, I can easily see that the face of the new rural area is changing clearly. Village roads and alleys are invested in to be spacious, clean and beautiful; people's lives are constantly improving... Implementing the national target program on building new rural areas, the Party Committee and the government have directed relevant sectors to closely coordinate with the District Elderly Association to organize and implement the plan, promote propaganda and mobilization work to cadres, Party members, people and members of the elderly association to implement the criteria for building new rural areas. Thereby, the "tall trees and big shade" class, the people agree to support and participate in many practical activities.
Mr. Vu Dai Dong, Pho Vinh village, Phat Diem town, Kim Son district, excitedly said: Although I am old now, I still follow the development of my homeland. Witnessing Kim Son today striving to integrate and develop, with modern, solid high-rise buildings, new rural roads lined with green trees, the appearance of the countryside changing every day... I am extremely proud. The people of all religions are united, complying well with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, being loyal and steadfast to the Party, and making every effort to contribute their efforts and intelligence to build their homeland.
Ms. Vu Thi Khanh, also in Phat Diem town, shared: In the past, people's lives were very hard, they were always struggling to find ways to make a living but still could not escape poverty. But now it is different, the State has paid attention to supporting plant varieties, lending capital to do business, building schools so that our children can study in a spacious school with convenient transportation, we are very happy. The work of taking care of families with preferential policies, people with revolutionary contributions, activities of wishing longevity, celebrating longevity, giving gifts to the elderly in difficult circumstances, the elderly without a place to rely on has received special attention from the local Party Committee and government. The living standards of the elderly in the district are basically stable, many families promote revolutionary traditions, taking the lead in building new rural areas in the locality.

NCT contribute to building the homeland
Traveling through the villages of Kim Son, one can feel the new vitality as well as the prosperous and full life present in every house. The small inter-commune roads, narrow and dusty alleys of the past have now been upgraded to be spacious, flat and paved with stone sidewalks just like in the city. On both sides of the road are planted trees and ornamental plants that bloom beautifully all year round. The rows of electric lights shining straight at night contribute to creating a new look and new atmosphere of a rich and beautiful countryside worth living in.
When starting to build a new rural area, the district had many low starting criteria, people's lives still faced many difficulties, infrastructure was both lacking and weak, awareness of a part of the people was still limited... After more than 10 years of implementation, with the efforts and determination of the entire Party Committee, government, people and the "big tree" class, the new rural construction movement in Kim Son has achieved remarkable results: 23/23 communes met the new rural standards; of which 4 communes met the advanced new rural standards, 1 model new rural commune, 33 villages and hamlets met the model new rural residential area standards, 2 towns met the civilized urban areas... Thanks to that, in November 2023, cadres, party members, members of the elderly association and people of Kim Son were happy and honored to receive the Certificate of recognition that the district met the new rural standards.

Joining hands for this common achievement, the Elderly Association at all levels in the district mobilized cadres, members of the Elderly Association, and people to contribute 130 billion VND in cash, 100,000 working days, donate nearly 90 hectares of land, dismantle assets and constructions on land to build roads, build cultural houses, sports areas, consolidate land plots, renovate fields; build hundreds of kilometers of tree-lined roads and flower roads. The total investment cost for building the new rural area is over 7,000 billion VND. However, during the implementation process, many difficulties were encountered, and many people did not agree to support the donation of land and labor. However, with the sharing and analysis of cadres, party members, members of the Elderly Association, and departments and organizations about the meaning and content of building the new rural area, people understood and agreed to follow...
The Association actively encourages members who are still healthy to continue to promote their experience and intelligence, participate in labor and production; encourages children and people to mobilize maximum resources to develop agricultural, forestry and fishery production, ensure food safety, exploit the potential and strengths of the locality. At the same time, encourage people to promote the development of industry, handicrafts, trade, services, labor export, vocational training, job introduction in enterprises inside and outside the district, contributing to economic development, ensuring social security. Average income per capita reached 62 million VND, 5 times higher than in 2010, the poverty rate decreased to below 1.5%.
Currently, 100% of kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools meet national standards. The District Medical Center and General Hospital have facilities, human resources and equipment to meet the health care needs of the people and the elderly in the area and neighboring districts with a scale of 200 beds. The rate of people and the elderly participating in health insurance is 98%.

The work of preserving and promoting historical and cultural values has been well implemented. The district has 6 national historical and cultural relics, 33 provincial historical and cultural relics, and traditional art forms such as Cheo singing, Van singing, Ca Tru singing, and Xam singing have been given attention for restoration and development.
