Replicating and developing the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs

In recent times, the Intergenerational Self-Help Club model in Bac Lieu province has brought about many practical results in promoting the role of the elderly, building a cultural life associated with local socio-economic goals.

Implementing Plan No. 72/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing Decision No. 1336/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on replicating the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs for the period 2021-2025, in the first quarter of 2025, the Elderly Associations at all levels advised the Commune People's Committees to establish 3 new Clubs, bringing the total number of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in the province to 60. Up to now, Vinh Loi district has 12 Clubs; Dong Hai and Phuoc Long districts have established 8 Clubs; the remaining units have 8 Clubs meeting the targets according to the plan, with a total of 3,710 members, with a total capital of 2,311,750,000 VND. In 2024, 702 members will be supported with loans of VND 1,849,255,000 to develop their economic life and escape poverty sustainably.

In the coming time, the Elderly Association at all levels in Bac Lieu province will continue to strengthen the organization of the Association at the grassroots level, branches and strong association groups, recruit new members and maintain the living routine and replicate the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in communes, towns, etc.
