Recently, a clip appeared on social networks recording images of a white pickup truck encroaching on the lane, driving in the wrong direction, and recklessly overtaking vehicles while they were traveling across the Phong Chau pontoon bridge from Lam Thao district to Tam Nong district ( Phu Tho province).
The clip shows that when the vehicles were moving steadily on the pontoon bridge, suddenly the car with license plate 19C-143.xx sped past while going uphill. It is known that this is the slope at the road leading to the pontoon bridge on the Tam Nong district bank.
According to VietNamNet's investigation, the image in the clip was recorded by Mr. NTD (29 years old, residing in Tam Nong district) on the afternoon of November 2.
Talking to reporters, Mr. D. said that due to the nature of his business, he is often present here and recorded the above image.
According to Mr. D., the reckless overtaking of pickup trucks has made local residents and drivers very upset because the actions endanger people and vehicles participating in traffic.
“I was standing watching and suddenly saw a pickup truck speeding and cutting in front of a car going uphill. Luckily, no accident happened,” said Mr. D.
A leader of the People's Committee of Huong Non commune (Tam Nong district) said that the locality will review and verify the above clip.
After the Phong Chau bridge collapse, to serve the travel needs of people between Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts, the 249th Engineering Brigade installed and put into operation a pontoon bridge.
Authorities have stipulated that only cars and pickup trucks are allowed to travel one way across the bridge, with a travel time of 10 minutes each way, the distance between vehicles on the bridge not exceeding 30m, and the speed not exceeding 10km/h.
