The exhibition takes place on 2 floors at Nha Lam Art (602/45E Dien Bien Phu, Ward 22, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), in which the ground floor displays watercolor paintings by Ho Hung and Lotus Gallery, the upper floor continues to display watercolor paintings, ancient ceramics and wooden furniture. With the criterion of "bringing art closer to the public", the organizers designed the exhibition space as a cozy meeting place.
Nha Lam Art just had an exhibition launch on the evening of November 30.
Specifically, Ho Hung's watercolor collection brings to the public the artist's most outstanding works (which were introduced in July this year in the exhibition Small Emotions ).
A ceramic product of Thanh Le workshop. This is one of the vases in the unique vase collection displayed at the exhibition.
One of the most interesting collections in the exhibition is ceramics, most of which are works collected from Bien Hoa Fine Arts School and Thanh Le workshop.
According to Ms. Nguyen Giang Xuan - founder of Nha Lam Art, this ceramic collection was collected from many countries, not just Vietnam. In addition to ceramic works from Bien Hoa Fine Arts School and Thanh Le workshop, others were purchased and transported directly from international ceramic auctions, so there are very unique works. Many other works were collected from ceramic connoisseurs themselves, so almost all contain their own stories.
At the recent friendly meeting to launch the exhibition, the organizers introduced the characteristics of ceramics from Bien Hoa Fine Arts School and ceramics from Thanh Le workshop; the patterns, colors, designs as well as some other ceramic works.
Timeless cultural stories
Ceramic and painting exhibition space of Nha Lam Art
The idea of the Nha Mong Du Nhien exhibition is to introduce to the audience timeless cultural stories, not just stories of ancient pottery. Among them, the ceramic works of Bien Hoa Fine Arts School and Thanh Le workshop have more stories to tell because the place of origin of these works inherently has a certain historical depth.
The ceramic line of Bien Hoa Fine Arts School is unique in the form of mixing ceramic glaze and the craftsmanship of the craftsmen. The ceramics here are considered pioneers in combining Vietnamese and Western ceramic elements in the early 20th century, focusing on the utility of the product when crafted.
As for Thanh Le workshop, ceramics is one of the product lines that the workshop focused on developing after its establishment in the early 1960s, alongside lacquer paintings. The ceramic works of this workshop are special in that they are engraved in relief, making a strong impression with multi-colored glaze dots and very detailed patterns covering the entire product; at the same time, this place focuses on the uniqueness and individuality of the work, so most of the products are produced over a long period of time, with strict artistic selection. Notably, although the ceramic works of Thanh Le workshop were born later than those of Bien Hoa Fine Arts School, they later became famous domestically and internationally, and Mr. Thanh Le also received many orders around the world .
Ms. Nguyen Giang Xuan shared that because these are all valuable works, the prices have been listed and there will be no haggling to avoid reducing the value of the product as well as the experience of the audience. The exhibition Nha Mong Du Nhien takes place. from 1.12 – 15.12.
