VMG Media Joint Stock Company (VMG Media) has reached an agreement to become the exclusive owner of commercial exploitation and distribution of broadcasting rights for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 (FIFA Women's World Cup 2023) on television systems, OTT, mobile networks, IPTV, and public screenings in Vietnam.
For the first time in history, the Vietnamese women's football team has qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup finals. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team are one of six Asian representatives, along with China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Australia, participating in the tournament.
The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup finals will feature 32 teams divided into eight groups of four teams each, with a total of 64 matches played in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023. Ten venues will be set up across the two countries, with four in New Zealand and six in Australia.
According to the draw, the Vietnamese women's team is in Group E, facing the Netherlands, the United States and Portugal. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will face quite strong opponents, because the United States is the reigning World Cup champion, while the Netherlands is the current runner-up and also the European champion. Vietnam's group will take place in New Zealand.
After owning the exclusive rights to commercial exploitation and distribution of broadcasting copyright for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, VMG Media and Vietnam National Assembly Television (Channel 7, THQHVN), one of the 7 essential national television channels, have reached an agreement to broadcast matches of the Vietnam women's team and matches at the tournament. In addition, VTVcab is the unit that coordinates the production of the matches.
To serve the large national television audience, TV stations wishing to broadcast the Tournament on cable, satellite, and terrestrial television infrastructures and press agencies wishing to use tournament data can contact VMG Media for licensing.
Sharing about the decision to participate in the field of football copyright, especially the most attractive tournament on the planet for female players, Mr. Luong Minh Tuan - General Director of VMG Media said: "The female warriors of the Golden Star have steadfastly overcome many difficulties to make history by entering a world- class football tournament. Therefore, VMG Media has decided to own the copyright to bring the historical image of Vietnamese football at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup to football-loving audiences across the country".
Speaking at the 2023 Women's World Cup copyright announcement ceremony, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) once again reiterated the many difficulties that the coaching staff and Vietnamese women's players have gone through, the most difficult being overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, there were times when only 4 players who did not have COVID-19 practiced with the coaching staff, and for many matches abroad, the VFF had to add each recovered player from within the country.
Coach Mai Duc Chung, at the emotional ceremony, said that this will be the first time the Vietnamese National Flag and National Anthem will be played at the World Cup. The live coverage of the matches will be a great encouragement for the female players from the home audience.
