Xiaomi YU7 2026 launched, electric SUV runs up to 835 km/charge

Xiaomi recently unveiled the YU7 electric SUV, marking the next step in its expansion into the automotive industry and celebrating the group's 15th anniversary.

At the car launch event, CEO Lei Jun confirmed that YU7 will be officially launched in July 2025. The specific selling price of the Xiaomi YU7 2026 electric car has not yet been announced.

Xiaomi YU7 is developed on the Modena platform, the car has dimensions of 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, 1,608 mm high and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. The car weighs between 2,140 and 2,460 kg, depending on the configuration, with 19 and 20 inch rim options.

Customers can choose from 9 exterior colors, including Colombian emerald green, orange and metallic titanium. Inside the cabin, the YU7 has many high-end features such as: zero-gravity Nappa leather front seats, which can recline up to 123 degrees and integrate 10-point massage.

The rear seats are electrically adjustable, reclining up to 135 degrees, with a 6.68-inch touch screen that controls the air conditioning system, music and navigation. Modern amenities such as electric folding door handles and smartphone-enabled trunk opening are all standard.

The most prominent highlight in the cockpit is the panoramic Head-Up Display (HUD) system called HyperVision, opening a new approach in modern electric car cabin design. Accordingly, the HUD screen on the YU7 spans the entire width of the windshield, displaying operating information such as power, speed, navigation and driver assistance warnings (ADAS).

Positioned away from the driver, HyperVision not only enhances visual fidelity but also helps reduce distractions – a key factor in ensuring driving safety. The YU7 will be available with three powertrain options. The standard YU7 RWD version is equipped with a rear-axle electric motor, producing 315 horsepower.

The YU7 Pro AWD variant has 2 electric motors with a total capacity of up to 489 horsepower, 690 Nm, allowing the car to reach a maximum speed of 240 km/h. The highest-end YU7 Max AWD version is equipped with two motors for a capacity of 681 horsepower and 866 Nm, this version has a maximum speed of 253 km/h.

All three use an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, supporting 5.2C fast charging to increase the travel range to 620 km in just 15 minutes of charging.

The RWD version will be equipped with a 96.3 kWh LFP battery pack, with an operating range of 835 km; the Pro AWD version is equipped with a 96.3 kWh LFP battery for an operating range of 770 km and the Max AWD version is equipped with a 101.7 kWh NCM battery for an operating range of 760 km.

Xiaomi pays special attention to safety on the YU7, the car has a chassis structure made of high-strength steel, the front frame is made of cast aluminum, the body is a combination of aluminum and steel to increase rigidity while reducing weight. The battery pack is protected by a special reinforced shell, with a bulletproof coating, improving resistance to collision and explosion.

According to the company's announcement, the YU7 has passed more than 50 passive safety tests, including severe collision simulations. In terms of intelligent driving assistance, the YU7 is equipped with an advanced sensor system with lidar, 4D mm-wave radar and ALD-coated anti-glare camera.

All data is processed by the Nvidia Drive AGX Thor computing platform with a capacity of up to 700 TOPS, supporting complex control algorithms. In particular, the autonomous driving support system on the YU7 was developed by Xiaomi itself, reflecting the company's long-term strategy of mastering core technology in the electric vehicle industry.

The Xiaomi YU7 was originally scheduled to debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, but was delayed after a serious accident involving one of its autonomous test vehicles. However, Xiaomi reaffirmed its commitment to serious and long-term investment in the automotive sector - a sector that is considered the next frontier after smartphones.
