The training course on food processing techniques and food hygiene and safety (organized by the Center for VocationalEducation - Continuing Education of Hue City in coordination with the People's Committee of An Hoa Ward) has helped many poor, near-poor and newly escaped-poverty households in the area have the opportunity to find jobs and have a stable income. Along with vocational training, the government, the Fatherland Front and organizations have mobilized resources to support breeding animals, house repairs and many other preferential policies to help the poor escape poverty sustainably.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a poor household in residential group 1. Ms. Huong is a single mother, raising 3 children to study but has no stable job, so her economy is facing many difficulties. After receiving support from the ward with 50 chickens worth 3 million VND and participating in a food processing training course, Ms. Huong now has a stable life from raising chickens and working seasonally for cooking establishments. In early October 2024, Ms. Huong was removed from the list of poor households.
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vice Chairwoman of An Hoa Ward People's Committee, said that, implementing the policy of Hue City People's Committee on poverty reduction, the ward has established a Steering Committee for Poverty Reduction, assigning members of the Steering Committee to coordinate with the grassroots to learn about the actual circumstances of poor households to have a poverty reduction orientation for households by 2025 (in addition to sustainable poor households). Through understanding the causes, the Steering Committee has found appropriate poverty reduction methods for each household, such as: Support in finding jobs, borrowing capital, supporting money to buy means of production, supporting education..., then assigning departments and organizations to coordinate to implement. In addition, the sub-committees of the Steering Committee for Poverty Reduction in residential groups mobilize individuals to help poor households with bicycles, books, fans, rice, food...
In 2024, the ward awarded certificates of primary vocational training in food processing techniques and food hygiene and safety to 30 poor households, near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty; coordinated with the Front and mass organizations to repair temporary houses, accept and put into use 4 houses of 1 poor household and 3 near-poor households, with a total cost of over 53 million VND; mobilized support funds from organizations and individuals to donate 91 gifts to poor and near-poor households. From July 2024 to present, the Front and mass organizations have maintained the "Kidnapping Kitchen" to give rice to the poor in the ward once a month with 100 free rice meals worth 2 million VND/time. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward has allocated 3 million VND from the "For the Poor" fund to support, the Women's Union has supported 1 million VND, and the political system of residential group 1 has supported 1 million VND for 1 poor household that registered to escape poverty at the end of 2024, in order to motivate poor households to strive to escape poverty and gradually stabilize their lives.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, to continue implementing the poverty reduction target, the ward directed the members of the Poverty Reduction Steering Committee in charge of the area to grasp the specific causes of each poor and near-poor household and the shortage targets, aspirations of each household to find solutions, have timely support directions, right subjects, right people, right work. At the same time, focus on supporting households with the ability to escape poverty and near-poverty in 2025 so that those households can escape poverty and near-poverty sustainably and not fall back into poverty and near-poverty in the coming years.
