In recent years, international transfer training programs, international cooperation, on-site study abroad... have attracted much attention. Ms. Le Gia Nghi, marketing specialist of the International Training Department - University of Technology (VNU-HCMC), said that many students in grades 10 and 11 plan to study this program early, not waiting until grade 12 to decide.
"Students are trained according to international programs, study with foreign lecturers, receive international training degrees, but the tuition fees are very Vietnamese" - Ms. Nghi said.
Students learn about international transfer programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) has many joint training programs attracting students.
According to Ms. Nghi, this program was implemented from 2006-2007, and many generations of students have transferred to partner universities. This year, the school's international transfer program to the US, Australia, and New Zealand has a quota of 150 students.
The international transfer training program has a separate admission process, including: interview, essay results, converted English certificate scores, and will also consider high school graduation exam scores and priority points (if any).
"The entry requirement for students is an IELTS 6.0 English certificate. Candidates with an IELTS 5.5 will still be considered for admission but must achieve the 6.0 standard in the first semester to continue the program," said Ms. Nghi.
One of the highlights of this program is the ability to save 50% of tuition fees compared to full-time study abroad. The first two years of studying at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, tuition fees are only about 42 million VND/semester (2 semesters per year). After that, when transferring to partner universities, tuition fees range from 600-900 million VND/year (excluding living expenses). This helps to significantly reduce the financial burden on families.
Bui Duy Anh, a student at Nguyen Huu Canh High School, came from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City to learn about international joint programs at Hutech University.
MSc. Nguyen Phuong Thao, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Training - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Hutech), said that in recent years, the group of economics and business administration majors at Lincoln University (USA) has attracted the attention of many students and parents.
Compared to self-funded study abroad, programs such as international joint programs, international transfer programs, on-site study abroad programs, etc. help save about 70% of costs, including tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, compared to studying abroad directly in the US.
"Even if you have met the entrance standards, after studying for a while, the school will have an exam to re-test your English skills. This helps us know the current learning level of students so that we can make timely adjustments and supplements" - Master Thao emphasized.
Ms. Thao said that the school has just opened a joint program with a top university in New Zealand, ranked 65th in the world. In addition, the school is implementing training in computer-related majors, especially information technology and artificial intelligence.
