Handling 2 7th grade female students who 'gang beat' and humiliated their schoolmates

On May 11, the leader of the People's Committee of Cai Be district, Tien Giang province, said that local leaders had just coordinated with the school, family, the People's Committee of the commune, and the Commune Police to work with and handle a number of female students who had beaten and humiliated another female student and filmed the incident at An Huu Secondary School.

Initial information, on May 4, An Huu Secondary School received a report about a number of female students beating and humiliating other female students and filming the video. The school's Board of Directors conducted verification and determined that they were students of the school.

Specifically, on May 2, after school, students NLYN; NNYT (all in class 7/8); NTYP (class 7/7) made an appointment with student NKN (class 8/1) to go to the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway near An Huu commune to talk and resolve the conflict.

After talking back and forth, two female students NTYP and NLYN beat and humiliated NKN. Female student NNYT used her phone to record the video.

According to the school, the cause of the conflict was because NKN brought her phone to school and left it in her desk drawer. A male classmate took NKN’s phone, put a picture of NTYP’s boyfriend on the phone screen, and then posted it on social media.

On the afternoon of May 5, the school invited the parents of the students and the students involved (the parents of NKN were absent due to work away from home) to the school for questioning. As the video had been spread on social media, the school and the parents agreed to take the students to the police station to make a report, take statements, and make a commitment to withdraw and delete the posted videos.

Teachers, school, representatives of An Huu Commune People's Committee and An Huu Commune Police analyzed the students' mistakes.

Considering the family circumstances of the students who beat their friends are all special cases, the families and students who beat their friends have proactively apologized, promised not to repeat the offense to the family and the beaten friend..., the Disciplinary Council of An Huu Secondary School decided to let the students write a commitment, read it before the meeting, apologize to their friends, families and the school, promise not to repeat the offense and give them a probation period until the end of the school year.
