Handling of violations of the scope of protection of irrigation works

BTO-The Provincial People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch requesting the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with a number of departments, branches, units and districts, towns and cities in the province to strengthen inspection and assessment of violations of irrigation works in terms of form, quantity and level of impact of violations of irrigation works protection.

At the same time, advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue, reissue, extend, adjust and revoke licenses to operate within the protected area of irrigation works. Organize inspections, examinations and handle violations of license provisions according to the provisions of the law on irrigation.

The Provincial People's Committee requested the Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to urgently review and evaluate the overall implementation of the work of marking the boundary of the protection area of irrigation works assigned to the unit for exploitation in the province up to now.

On the other hand, inspect and count violations of the protection scope of irrigation works managed and exploited by the units in localities in the province such as: Dumping waste and garbage within the protection scope of irrigation works; discharging wastewater in violation of the law into irrigation works; other acts that pollute water sources in irrigation works; destroying or intentionally damaging irrigation works; illegally blocking, filling, digging, dredging, pumping mud, sand, gravel on rivers, canals, ditches, streams, lakes, ponds affecting irrigation activities; illegally encroaching and using land within the protection scope of irrigation works...

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Official Dispatch No. 2286/BNN-TL dated April 12, 2023 on handling violations of the protection scope of irrigation works to provinces and cities. The purpose is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and law enforcement in managing and handling violations of the protection scope of irrigation works, ensuring water quality for agricultural production, ensuring the safety of irrigation works, especially during the 2023 flood season.
