Punishing TikToker Hua Quoc Anh is another lesson in online behavior

On January 3, 2024, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City and the security agency had a meeting and administratively sanctioned Mr. Hua Quoc Anh (the subject using the TikTok account "Hua Quoc Anh") for providing false information, distorting, slandering, insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, honor, dignity of individuals... with a fine of 7.5 million VND.

Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on November 4, 2023, Mr. Hua Quoc Anh posted a 1 minute 25 second video describing a photo shoot at Angkor Wat temple (Cambodia) but combined images of the Thai flag, 2 Thai kings and inserted the sound "Hello Thailand".

This clip not only faced strong opposition from the online community, but the Cambodian government also considered punishing this Vietnamese Tiktoker, possibly banning him from entering Cambodia for 5-10 years.

The punishment of TikToker Hua Quoc Anh is timely and appropriate because, first of all, the insertion of images that distort the truth like this is not only a personal story but also the image of "Vietnamese people" in the eyes of international friends.

This punishment also creates another lesson for many people about irresponsible and uncivilized behavior on social networks.

Recently, in addition to TikToker Hua Quoc Anh, the internet is full of content creators on TikTok and other platforms who have recklessly attracted views, profited, and created a bad, toxic trend for the public.

And in addition to TikToker Hua Quoc Anh, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam previously decided to temporarily ban passenger LMXY from flying for a period of time because he posed to film a TikTok clip on the runway.

Or TikToker No O No also had his channel locked by TikTok for violating community standards by using derogatory language towards the poor, then was fined by the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, also 7.5 million VND.

It is worth mentioning that the act of providing false information, distorting, slandering, insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, honor and dignity of individuals... does not only occur on TikTok or Facebook platforms and the perpetrators are not only digital content creators like TikToker Hua Quoc Anh.

The act of providing false and distorted information... happens anytime, anywhere with many different elements. For example, the case of a foreign "illegal" tour guide, speaking Korean, explaining to a group of Korean tourists at the Bao Dai Palace relic in Da Lat, Lam Dong, distorting the life and background of King Bao Dai and Vietnamese history, causing a stir in public opinion recently is an example.

Those who commit such distortions, especially foreigners living and working in Vietnam, also need to be dealt with as severely as possible by the authorities to set an example!
